WHAT SATANISM IS NOT: • The Satanic Panic: • 1980 to 1995. • Began with “Michelle Remembers”. • Published in the 1980s. • Documents recovered memories restored by Michelle Smith during therapy with psychiatrist Dr. Lawrence Pazder (whom she later married). • Ritual abuse with the primary goal of appeasing Satan.

WHAT SATANISM IS NOT: • The Satanic Panic: • “Michelle Remembers” gave rise for the formation of the belief in widespread Satanic Ritual Abuse (SRA). • Beliefs among law enforcement, feminists and Christians include*: • Satanists and Wiccans are the same. • Satanists/Wiccans engaged in extensive SRA. • 50,000+ infants and children were sacrificed annually, some eaten by Satanists. • Satanism mirrors Christianity to ridicule Christianity. • 1995: 15 years of dedicated investigation turned up no concrete evidence of SRA. • Irony: Ritual abuse continues today in the form of physical beatings during Christian exorcisms*. • Around 1 victim a year dies in North America. *Robinson, B. - <READ STATEMENT> We’re pragmatists. We try our best to see the world in a way that is as unclouded as possible. We call this “undefiled wisdom”. We use this understanding, or this “undefiled wisdom”, to make the best from life for ourselves as well as those whom we cherish. We think of self-deceit as: The idea of an afterlife. The idea of a universal creator that cares about you, an insignificant creature that lives on a speck of dust adrift in the infinitely vast universe. The idea that humans are greater than we really are.
- <READ STATEMENT> A Satanist can be a very kind person. It’s not all hatred or anger. We tend to think of hate as a dulling of the mind, a primal state that undermines the best human qualities of intelligence, compassion and progress. It has its place, but love and kindness is far more valuable. If we are kind to someone, and kindness is not returned, we will stop being kind entirely. This statement also points to the fact that, if society does not judge, bad behavior will never stop. Meekness breeds social disaster.
- <READ STATEMENT> As mentioned earlier, Lex Talionis is part of the core beliefs of Satanism. Ensure that people pay for their actions. On an individual level, this statement implores the Satanist to have some self-respect, and not allow themselves to be trampled upon.
- <READ STATEMENT> Two aspects here that really need clarification. First, Satanists can be dependable and reliable IF and only IF the responsibility is reciprocated. Otherwise, why waste our time and effort? Second, psychic vampires. These are people who feed on your inability to say NO. They are all take and no give. They drain your energy through relentless demands. They take advantage of you. They ultimately leave you feeling vulnerable, exhausted and run down. There’s a whole god damned chapter in the Satanic Bible on dealing with psychic vampires. Mainly by trolling them till they give up. Basically, don’t be a doormat.
- <READ STATEMENT> It’s pretty self-explanatory. We are just another species in the animal kingdom. Not special. Many interpretations of what this means. Hedonistic. Indulgence. Acceptance of the beast within. I myself take it to mean the acceptance of our part in nature, and our role as shepherds of this planet.
- <READ STATEMENT> Sin here is highly associated with monotheistic religions. Satan can be said to represent the sins of Christianity. But at least Satanists can agree on some sins with Christians. Pride is a Christian sin. Counterproductive pride is a Satanic sin. So there’s some sort of pride that both agree are sinful. This statement also points towards Satan representing not only all our virtues, but our failings as well.
- <READ STATEMENT> The last statement is pretty self-explanatory. The Satanist should keep this in mind, as a part of his or her self-awareness. Next up, the Nine Satanic Sins.
- Catholics have the 7 deadly sins. Satanists have 9 sins.
- The first sin is Stupidity. It is the cardinal sin, and is the cause for other sins. Society thrives increasingly on stupidity, and depends on people going along with what they’re told. The media promotes the same stupidity as something that’s not only acceptable, but laudable. Think of the Kardashians and the Jersey Shores of this world. Think of the Acai Berries and other “superfoods”. Think of those who refuse all scientific evidence and insist that vaccinations cause autism, or that man-made climate change isn’t real. Stupidity as a sin compels the Satanist to THINK, and not be duped by what he or she is told. Don’t be fooled by others who seek to manipulate you.
- The second sin is Pretentiousness: Sorry about the photo. It was what Google spat out when I searched for “pretentious person”. It refers to empty posturing. E.g., the guy who feels like a big shot, without regard to whether he can come up with the goods or not. Taking pride in one’s achievements is encouraged in Satanism, but one should only take credit for one’s own accomplishments. Making empty claims about yourself isn’t just obnoxious, but also potentially dangerous.
- The third sin is solipsism. Here, the sin of solipsism refers to the projection of yourself onto others. The mistake of expecting people to give you the same consideration, courtesy and respect that you give them is foolish. Instead, do unto them as they do unto you. Always deal with the reality of the situation, instead of expectations. Here’s a great video of this in action. Ten bucks says that bully won’t be picking on him anymore.
- The fourth sin is self-deceit. Deal with the world as it really is. Convincing yourself of untruths for your own comfort is no less problematic than letting someone else deceive you. This is basically, the same as the 1st Satanic Sin, Stupidity, except the source is yourself.
- The fifth sin is herd-conformity: Satanism exalts the power of the individual. Think of the examples of herd-conformity we see here: When an ad tells you, “We’ve sold 1,000,000 of these things. 1,000,000 people can’t be wrong!” When someone justifies their beliefs based on how many people believe the same thing. The Satanist avoids such behavior, following the herd only if it makes logical sense or suits your needs.
- The sixth sin is lack of perspective. Never sacrifice the big picture for the small, and vice versa. Remember your own importance in things, and don’t be overwhelmed by the viewpoints of the herd. Keep an eye on the big picture, and how you can fit yourself into it.
- The seventh sin is Forgetfulness of Past Orthodoxies <Read slide> Really self-explanatory.
- The 8th Sin is Counterproductive Pride: The Satanist should never be embarrassed about his own accomplishments. Just don’t let pride get in the way. Put it aside until it becomes constructive again.
- The 9th and final sin is the Lack of Aesthetics. The Satanist should strive for beauty and balance. Aesthetics is important for some Satanic Magic. It can be extended to the rest of one’s life as well. Avoid following what society dictates is beautiful, and identify true beauty. All you body positive people here, Satanism is your religion.

- So here comes the part where I teach you some Satanic Magic.
- There’s no division between white (good) or black (evil) magic. As seen before, Satanism sees the world as impersonal, and therefore amoral. Divided into two categories: Lesser Magic A system of manipulation and is highly dependent on the situation. Greater Magic Involves ritual and ceremony in order to focus one’s emotional energy for a specific purpose. Today, I’m going to teach you Lesser Magic.
- How do you perform Lesser Magic? Well, start by taking off your pants and deciding if you are A) Male or B) Female
- Having decided that, next, evaluate yourself honestly. Which category do you most naturally fall into? Sex Sentiment Wonder
- The Sex Category: Are you an underwear model? Does the opposite sex line up to visit your bedroom? If yes, then do everything you can to make yourself as enticing as possible. Use sex as your most powerful tool. Once your victim is hooked, you’re free to manipulate them to your will. For women: you don’t have to be an underwear model though. LaVey does suggest that average looking women may have advantages over naturally beautiful women. They’re less intimidating to men. Think of situations where sex is useful. The college girl who sleeps with her professor for As. The man who sleeps with her female (or male) boss for a promotion. Sleep your way to the top! Beware the lack of appreciation for any genuine hard work you put in though.
- The Sentiment Category: Best represented with the “good witch” look. Cookie ladies, the charming cat lady, the women who evokes pleasant childhood memories, the nice old man. They might well be satanic witches and warlocks. Children are particularly susceptible to sentimental lesser magic. Young adults too, who come to you for sage advice. Think of situations where sentiment is useful: Get out of a speeding ticket just by appearance alone. You don’t look like a speed demon. Charm younger people into doing your will with a nice warm apple pie. Get a man to change a lightbulb by pretending that you are too frail or weak to do it.
- The Wonder Category: It’s a wide ranging category, and also probably the most cunning. It works differently from sentiment or sex. Instead of attracting directly, you appear to scare them away, or make them pity you. Manipulate others by planting the fear of the consequences should they not do what you ask. This includes fear of you dying in the case of using pity. Situations where this may be useful: If you’re begging for money, a pitiful look may be useful. Charities use this a lot. If you’ve got a huge body, and a massive beard to go with it, you can intimidate others to doing your bidding.

- Here’s some miscellaneous notes about Lesser Magic. Lesser Magic is most effective when the category is natural to you. If you’re ugly, I’m sorry, you can’t use Sex. It just won’t work. Be honest with yourself. Remember, Satanists deal with reality as it is. Admit to yourself that how you look does matter. Odor can be used to manipulate others too. Anton LaVey gives the example of a nice old lady using the smell of cooking to charm a young man, and a man charming a young lady from a fishing village by tucking a mackerel in his pocket to invoke pleasant memories.
- Now we have Greater Magic, which is ritualized and ceremonial in nature. There are three basic types: Lust Destruction Compassion You’re encouraged to use whatever props you deem necessary to your emotional and psychological needs. Nude altars are optional.
- Lust rituals or more commonly known as the love or charm spell creates desire in your target, or to summon a sex partner to fulfill your desires. Generally, it involves focusing on your desires on someone so strongly that it culminates in orgasm. Basically, ritualized masturbation while fantasizing about your friends, and for this reason, is generally performed alone.
- Destruction rituals are used to destroy a person, either literally, or metaphorically. Literally in the sense that your victim dies. Metaphorically in the sense that his life is ruined. In all cases, the goal is to harm someone deserving of it. Destruction rituals are also known as hexes or curses. And may be performed in a group to boost your own emotions, or alone.
- Compassion rituals are designed to help others, or help yourself. Crying is strongly encouraged, and the rituals are designed to evoke overwhelming pathos and sadness. Similar to the destruction ritual, it can be performed in a group or alone.

The Book of Satan Similar to a really long rant by LaVey on why Satanism must exist. The Book of Lucifer Essays by LaVey discussing the foundations of Satanic belief. The Book of Belial A rather basic grimoire on the theory behind Satanic magic. The Book of Leviathan A more detailed look at Satanic magic rituals, such as Lust, Destruction and Compassion. Also discusses props and ingredients used in rituals. Closes with the Enochian Keys, a magical language originating from John Dee’s writings. It’s similar to speaking in tongues for Christians, except there’s an actual translatable meaning behind the words.

- The Devil’s Notebook expands on the essays in The Book of Lucifer of the Satanic Bible. It contains further discussions on Satanic doctrine.
- Finally, we have The Satanic Witch, Originally called The Compleat Witch: What To Do When Virtue Fails It’s written from the perspective of women, Guidebook on how to manipulate and exploit men for their own gain. If you’ve ever heard of The Game by Neil Strauss, this is basically the same thing, except it takes the side of women. Also known to strike people as sexist, discriminatory, prurient and morally bankrupt. Yes, of course it is. It’s not about equality, it’s about allowing women to gain control of those around them. Men may also find some use out of it, as it gives you knowledge on how you can be manipulated.
