4. A WORLD OF INSIGHTS
S1: In which of the following ways are you involved in the purchase process for private and/or hybrid cloud solutions at your organization?
Base: 60 qualified respondents
In this survey we refer to the following definitions of private and hybrid cloud.
Private Cloud â Infrastructure provisioned solely for a single organization. For the purposes of this
survey we are focusing on private clouds that are hosted and managed internally versus by a third party.
Hybrid Cloud â A composition of private and public clouds which remain unique entities but are bound
together, offering the benefits of multiple deployment models.

5. A WORLD OF INSIGHTS
âą Almost one quarter of respondents have completed the application planning and cloud
strategy stages when it comes to private cloud deployments.
âą Hybrid cloud lags behind private cloud only slightly at each stage.
âą All challenges prompting cloud plans are weighted equally with inflexible legacy
architectures leading by only a small margin (35%).
âą Data silos, inefficient manual processes, and the perception that IT cannot handle
in-house are all pushing companies toward cloud plans.
âą Ensuring the security of the cloud environment is the most important step when
implementing a private or hybrid cloud with 9 out of 10 respondents reporting it is
critical/very important.
âą Modular platform building blocks that can integrate with multiple vendors is the cloud
deployment approach that most organizations feel would be the best fit (versus
integrated solutions from a single vendor).
âą The top three most important factors when evaluating/selecting cloud technology are the
same across private and hybrid cloud: disaster recovery and security capabilities and
cost transparency.
âą Increased IT efficiencies is the top benefit organizations hope to achieve with both
private and hybrid cloud deployments. Organizations also hope for reliability/security and
lowering TCO with optimized application delivery.
