2. Placed Together by the
Providence of God
Read Acts 18:1-11
Have you ever thought about the events that
have transpired to take your life to where
you are?
3. Placed Together by the Providence of
God
1. Paul traveled from Athens to Corinth (about 50 mile s/w).
2. Initially he is by himself.
3. Corinth had a population of nearly 800,000.
4. Corinth was known for its wickedness, to corinthinize was
to become immoral.
5. The temple of Aphrodite claimed to have 1000 prostitutes.
6. Paul encounters a Jew named Aquila.
7. Aquila and Priscilla ordered to leave Rome (20,000 Jews
were ordered by Claudius Caesar to leave because of
disputes that arose between the Jews and Christians.
8. Paul was drawn to them – same occupation, same faith,
Acts 18:3.
4. Absorbed in Preaching
1. Paul as usual reasoned in the synagogue, same as Acts
17:2, 17.
2. Means to mingle “thought with thought.”
3. Paul kept trying to persuade them to obey the gospel. He
never gave up.
4. Silas and Timothy arrive, it is the last time we read of Silas.
2Co 11:9 NKJV And when I was present with you, and in
need, I was a burden to no one, for what I lacked the brethren
who came from Macedonia supplied. And in everything I kept
myself from being burdensome to you, and so I will keep
myself.
5. Absorbed in Preaching
Acts 18:5 NASB But when Silas and Timothy came down
from Macedonia, Paul began devoting himself completely to
the word, solemnly testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the
Christ.
1Co 9:13-14 NKJV Do you not know that those who minister
the holy things eat of the things of the temple, and those who
serve at the altar partake of the offerings of the altar? (14)
Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the
gospel should live from the gospel.
From Tent-Making to becoming Fully Absorbent
6. Absorbed in Preaching
Act 18:6 NKJV But when they opposed him and blasphemed,
he shook his garments and said to them, "Your blood be upon
your own heads; I am clean. From now on I will go to the
Gentiles."
Mat 10:14 NKJV And whoever will not receive you nor hear
your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off
the dust from your feet. (Previously Paul & Barnabas Acts
13:50-51)

7. Eze 3:18-21 NKJV When I say to the wicked, 'You shall surely
die,' and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked
from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man
shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.
(19) Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his
wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his
iniquity; but you have delivered your soul. (20) "Again, when a
righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits
iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die;
because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin,
and his righteousness which he has done shall not be
remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand. (21)
Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous
should not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live because
he took warning; also you will have delivered your soul."

8. Stop Being Afraid
Act 18:9-11 NKJV Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night
by a vision, "Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep
silent; (10) for I am with you, and no one will attack you to
hurt you; for I have many people in this city." (11) And he
continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of
God among them.
What are WE afraid of?
