Launch in Shawinigan of Quebec’s first mobile art collection
Shawinigan‐Montreal, November 23, 2012 ‐ The Shawinigan Entrepreneurship Centre (CES) inaugurates its first
permanent collection of iphonography, entitled "Woven Images", a first in Quebec created by Intelegia’s Mobile
Art Lab.
"When art meets entrepreneurship, we know that there are visionaries in the city," says Isabelle Poirier, president
of Intelegia who audaciously accepted the challenge presented by Daniel Beliveau, Director of the Shawinigan
Entrepreneurship Centre, to find an innovative way to support start‐ups.
On September 1st, 2012, Intelegia’s Mobile Art Lab team invited photographers from the Mauricie and Montreal
regions ‐ the latter being currently one of the cradles of mobile art in the province ‐ to shoot the 1910 Wabasso
Cotton Mill currently being recycled into a 21st century building before its official reopening. "The old Wabasso
building stands to remind us that society’s industrial fabric is constantly changing and that entrepreneurs have no
choice but to adapt and innovate in order to materialize their ideas. Artists also need to reinvent themselves
constantly. That’s the thread that weaves the collection: art meets commerce." says Isabelle Poirier.
Through creative process, these photographs were reworked and retouched but using only smartphone
applications. "The photos are unique and inspiring. The collection presents various contemporary mobile art trends
like the Graphists and the Pictorialists," explains Intelegia’s president.
This first exhibition organized by Intelegia’s Laboratory of Mobile Art is a tribute to human’s genius to transform
and adapt. In the Center’s creative free space, entrepreneurs, like artists, will be able to reinvest themselves.
The work of the following photographers and active “igers” part of the collection include: Jaclyn Turner
(@jaclyn_T), Mathieu Perron (@matness), Geneviève Trudel (@getrudel), Mana Hemami (@Caramilk), Pierre

Intelegia also wishes to thank Michel Angers, Mayor of Shawinigan, Daniel Beliveau, Director, Shawinigan
Entrepreneurship Center, Clémence Bélanger, Museologist, Cultural Corporation and Luke Arvisais, CEO of CLD
Shawinigan for their support and contribution to the success of the permanent collection.

located at 15, 6th Avenue, in Shawinigan (Grandmère sector). Follow us on Facebook – “Images Tissées”, on
