IOnce Owned A Beautiful African Lion I
Called K.K. I love animals and have owned
a variety of them as pets including a monkey, a zebra,
a camel, llamas, a silver fox, horses…and yes, a
beautiful lion. Lions have a presence and aura like no
other animal I have ever been around. The lion is the
second largest feline species, after the tiger. The male
lion can be recognized by his mane and can weigh up to
500 pounds. They need hot climates and hunt in
groups. In the wild, lions live up to 14 years. But, in
captivity, they can live up to 20 years. A male lion
needs about 15 pounds of meat a day for its diet. In
times of desperation and hunger, they have been
known to even attack elephants.
Lions are natural and instinctive predators. They
are instinctive hunters and begin hunting at 3 months
old. Yet, a lion is not born skilled. Only through failed
experience after failed experience does it become
skilled. This is interesting…they do not become skilled
at hunting until they are two years old or so. Think on
this. They are instinctive and natural hunters…but
have to practice it over and over and over to develop
the skill for it! The Best Of The Best…Have To Work At
What Is Even Natural…To Get Good At It.
Discomfort Is The Seed For Excellence.
Lions Have A Secret Every Man Of God
Needs To Learn. I am 61 years old and
have traveled around the world to 39 countries.
Opportunities, the needs of people and a passion to
impart the Wisdom of God has driven me often to work
all night long. Exhaustion happens often in the lives of

passionate ministers who contain a Volcano of

being hospitalized for exhaustion.
Emptying is sowing the Seed of our Life into the
soil of the world, the human family. Yet, it is in these
moments of emptying that the Enemy births
depression, distorts our judgement, and erases hope
and confidence. Fatigue weakens our ability to make
good decisions.
That’s why the study of The Lion is fascinating.
They are powerful, fast (running 37 miles per hour)
and hunt in groups. Yet, they rest 20 hours a day. They
naturally have a daily rhythm and routine that is
relaxed…storing and harnessing the intensity of their
thrust for the moments that matter.
The Wise know…that every moment has a
different value, a different focus and qualifies for a
different level of energy and attention. Rest is not
wasted time. A restored mind…can avoid a thousand
heartaches. Learn from…The Lion’s Unknown Secret.
Loss Is Proof A Thief Has Entered Your
Life. “We can’t find how they entered,” the
police officer said. The scene was a little dramatic for
the homeowners. They had gone on vacation. When
they returned, their jewelry had been stolen. Some
very precious things had been stolen. When the police
looked for broken glass “illegal entry”, they could not

7. find any signs of a true break-in.
“Did you give anyone the keys to your house
before you left?” the officer asked.
“Well, yes. Our housekeeper was taking care of
the house while we were gone and we gave her a key to
keep watch over it.”
“Let’s call the housekeeper.”
She could not be found. It appeared that she had
allowed her boyfriend or someone to talk her into
letting them in the house. They had “cleaned house.”
They never saw the housekeeper again nor the jewelry.
It appeared that no one had broken in.
But, the missing goods proved someone had
broken in.
Loss…is evidence a Thief has entered…your own

Environment. Order around you protects
your focus and instantly dissolves guilt that disorder
creates. Labor to cultivate a System for organizing a
specific place for all information including your
passport, important papers, warranty and guarantee
papers, even your keys. One place only…for each item.
Organizing requires Decision-Making…Assistance…
and TIME. Pursue assistance. Hire Professional
organizers. They are worth the investment. Invite a
trusted and caring friend to assist you. Never try to

organize your world alone. Their presence creates
energy. Set aside one day every week…for total focus on
your Organizing Project. One drawer at a time. One
room at a time. Use see-through plastic boxes instead
of cardboard. Viewing the contents easily will
eliminate worry, confusion and wasted time in opening
boxes to verify contents. Throw out anything you have
not used in six months. Archive…anything that has
emotional value to you personally. Label boxes clearly.
I prefer bold printing with a black Sharpie pen. Play
music…during your Project Day that keeps you excited
and happy about “getting organized.”
Shop for appropriate storage boxes, trays or
baskets to use in your Project. I have found The
Container Store to be an invaluable aid in this. Any
Movement Towards Order…Generates Pleasure and
Energy.
Rest Is An Achievement. The rewards of
rest will always equal the rewards of pro-
ductivity. Rest is an Investment in tomorrow.
Rest forces you to distinguish priorities from the
non-essentials.
Rest is your Session of Evaluation…forcing you to
assess what you are doing with honesty…an
investment in longevity.
Rest enables you to assess the true value of
everything in your life. One famous United States
President refused to make major decisions after 3pm
every day. Former President Bill Clinton said he made
his regrettable decisions…when he was tired and
fatigued. Fatigue distorts reality…and magnifies
offenses and disappointments.

Correct Wrongs You Observe...Report
Them To Someone Who Can Correct Them.
Workers often complain about many things…but
make no effort to correct them. Few turn in a
memo...to the manager to correct it. Refuse to ignore a
wrong that you see occurring. Confront it. Do you see
a child abused? Report it. Do you see a good
deed…unrewarded? Address it. Do you hear someone
stain the good name of a good person? Stop it…
immediately. This is Right. This is Integrity. This is
Greatness.
The real proof of Loyalty is exposure of Disloyalty.
Disloyalty can be hidden…for a Season.
Loyalty cannot be hidden. Ever.
True loyalty is so passionate, so obvious to
others…and its fragrance is undeniable. Loyalty is so
obvious and known…that leaders never question those
who are truly loyal. Loyalty is so energizing that it
reveals quickly the presence of Disloyalty.
Loyalty finds Disloyalty…unbearable.
Honoring a Leader…is habitual joy to The Loyal.
Honoring a Leader…is agitating to The Disloyal.
Identify Things In Yourself That Never
Change. I love to read. Magazines,
newspapers, books, fiction, history, biographies. I love
knowledge…information…illustrations…and anything
that is worthy of reading. That has never changed. My
love for Change…has never changed!
Some things do change:
Discoveries, Age and Opportunity guarantee your
pursuit of Changes. The design of my stationary? I like
it changed. My preference for colors has changed from

season to season. Some of the things I eat have
changed. Preferred colors in my interior decorating of
my home…has changed. I like changes in my Website.
You must always differentiate between those
things in you which have the most potential for
change…and that which is consistent. Why? Those
things which never change in you…are secrets to your
Assignment, the problem you were created to solve while
you are alive on the Earth.
Don’t Try To Make Me Happy—Just
Follow My Instructions, Then I Will Be
Happy. Some years ago, I phoned my Personal
Assistant. I explained to her that a worker here at my
home had tried to change one of my instructions…for a
specific stain on a wood painting project. I requested
that she search for a specific kind of stain for my
gazebo and have someone bring it to me…here at my
home.
She replied, “I will do my very best to make you
happy today, Dr. Murdock.”
I replied, “You did not hear me. I did not ask you
to make me happy. I don’t need you to make me happy.
I simply gave you an instruction to locate a specific
type of stain for my gazebo painting project. I simply
need you to follow my instruction. When you follow my
instructions, I am happy.”
Many employees who want their employer to be
happy with what they chose to do…instead of doing
exactly what their Boss instructed.
Quit wasting time trying to make others happy.
Just follow an instruction, an employer will be happy
with you. Consistently. Pleasuring others is a worthy

the hidden key.
Never Conclude That The Experts Know
More Than You Do. Consult experts.
Especially those who have given their life to one focus.
Experience affects excellence. Search out The Best…of
The Best. Always. But, remember that they are not
always right. Two of the best Television Consultants
known…pleaded with me not to purchase expensive air
time on a powerful secular television network. “You
are not ready for it. You will lose your money. The
unbelievers will not support you…”
I did it anyway.
The first program…paid for itself.
It proved one of the greatest decisions I ever made
in my ministry…and changed my Outreaches forever.
Your heart will take you to heights your mind resents.
The Authorities…are often wrong. Often. Never
forget it.
The Willingness To Become Is The Master
Secret To Success. Success is a process. A
moment-by-moment movement toward a desired goal.
Everyone wants to suddenly be…not eventually

He resented it. Why? He did not realize the Mentor

Becoming…is the invisible secret to Greatness. Is

Your Life Is Whatever You Decide To
Magnify. Identify this very moment…
every good gift you are enjoying.
1. EXPRESS…uncommon gratitude to God for
a specific gift He has bestowed upon your life. Is it an
Opportunity? Access to greatness? Good health? An
incredible idea? If you are thankful, what is the proof?
It may be something you normally take for
granted. It may be something common. But, it is a
distinct gift from God.
2. Identify And Protect The Gift Of Access…To
Someone Who Motivates You, Encourages You Or
Protects You.
3. Remember That Your Circle Of Influence Is
The Birthplace For Change. Thank God for that from
them…and then go to them personally and express
your gratitude for a specific quality they contain…that
has exuded from their life toward you.

often becomes hidden to us. What we keep seeing…we

You Can Experience Many Different
Things With The Same Money. I received
a beautiful and large royalty check. So, I bought a
beautiful boat. I got tired of the boat…so I sold it and
bought a limousine…with the money. I became tired of
the limousine. So, I sold it, took the money and bought
four horses. I became weary of the expense and upkeep
of the horses. So, I sold them… and invested the money
in an exciting monkey. The monkey became a real
burden to feed and keep. So, I sold the monkey. With
the money I had spent on the monkey, I bought a
beautiful zebra. The zebra was wild and attacked
me…so I sold it…and bought a camel!
One of the greatest mistakes is attempting to
accumulate many things and sustain them all.
Your joy often comes through Experiences…not
Accumulation.
You can buy a car…sell the car and buy another
one! With the same money you can experience two
different feelings…! Keep things moving in your
life…toward more experiences, different friendships
and different knowledge.
Order In Environments Affects People
Quite Differently. My sister, Deborah,
made an interesting observation. She noted that when
her paperwork was neatly placed inside folders inside

14. her filing cabinet…she forgot about it. Neatness and
order around her sent her mind a message: nothing
needs attention, work or changing. She realized that
her enthusiasm and energy to finish a project or create
changes…was unleashed when she saw stacks of work
around her everywhere…instead of a neat little stack.
Her desire to solve a problem…was muted and
dissolved in the presence of “Order.” She loves
Order…but found the appearance of it brought death to
her passion…to correct and solve problems.
If she walks into a home and everything is in
place, she has no desire to stay. Why? She sees a
finished product…an environment without a need for
attention and labor. She feels unneeded. You see, her
calling and Assignment is to create improvement and
excellence. So, she subconsciously wants to seek out a
problem...where she can bring change and
improvement.
Accusatory Tones…In Your Emails,
Letters Or Conversation…Will Birth
Hostility. True, Disappointment aches for expression.
Unfortunately, we often express our disappointment in
tones of accusation…compounding our problem.
Accusation authorizes a Defense.
Everyone retaliates. Everyone. They simply
choose different ways…and different days…to do so.
Accusation unleashes waves of Retaliation…that
will distract you, drain your energy, break your focus
and ultimately suffocate every Seed of joy within you.
An Accusatory Tone…will turn a Trickle Problem
into a Tsunami.
Several years ago, I noticed a sarcastic and cynical

tone in the emails from my Assistants. I was puzzled
at the sudden change in attitude. So, I reviewed my
personal emails to them. I was stunned to recognize
that my own emails to them contained the same
tone…accusatory. Their reactions were simply in
defense from my subtle tones but obvious blaming
them for mistakes they had made.
Words are Seeds.
Seeds Guarantee Harvests.
Albert Einstein Gave Us A Mentorship
Moment Many Years Ago. Some months
ago, I made several snide remarks to a new property
foreman regarding the slanted steps being put in by a
contractor. To me, it was obvious that there was a
slight slant…and it needed to be corrected.
When I talked about it later to the young man
putting the platform/steps in…he explained that the
slight tilt was to help the rain water run off…rather
than gather.
I’d never thought about that. He was correct. I
was wrong…and embarrassed for being so adamant
about my view…before hearing his. The Word of God
teaches us that fools answer a matter before they hear
the full account.
People always have a reason (right or wrong) for
their conduct. Have you sought an explanation for
it…from them? Dialogue Reveals What Intuition
Cannot. It can birth remarkable and irreplaceable
understanding. The famed scientist, Albert Einstein
stated that he refused to make statements of certainty.
He felt too many unknown factors necessitated a
Learner’s Stance. He gave his opinion with these entry

16. sentences: “From my present perspective, I feel this
may be the case…” or, “From my experiences so far, my
present opinion is....” The Proof Of Humility Is The
Willingness To Listen…First.
The Quality Of The Servant Determines
The Atmosphere Of The Palace. Bob
Dylan, the famed singer, imprinted my mind many
years ago with a song entitled, “You’ve Got To Serve
Somebody.” You Can Only Be Promoted By Someone
You Have Served. The Quality Of Your Servanthood
Decides The Timing Of Your Promotion.
The Decisions Of Kings Are Decided By
Information. Servants Decide What Kings Believe.
Your Excellence Of Serving Others Will Decide The
Very Environment In Which You Serve.
An unforgettable Wisdom Key came from the lips
of a minister friend of mind: “The quickest way to the
king’s quarters is through the servant’s chambers.”
The Willingness To Change Births The
Ability To Change. Millions want
change…without changing themselves. Changing
yourself…is miraculous. It is an ability God withholds
from everyone except…the Person who is willing to
change.
Ruth is a perfect example. When she made the
decision to follow Naomi out of her own home
country…she said that Naomi’s people would be her
people. She is really saying, “Whatever you are
comfortable with, I will become comfortable with. I am
willing to adapt. I am willing to change. I am willing

The term “King of the Beasts” is misleading because
a Lion will run from many creatures, including the elephant
and the rhinoceros.
Lions are the most social of all the cats, living in
groups called “Prides.” There can be up to 40 members in
a Pride with over half of them being cubs and young adults.
Females will often stay with the Pride their entire life, while
young males are driven out.
The largest Lion on record was almost 11 feet long
and weighed nearly 700 pounds.
A Lion’s average life span is 13 years but a Lion
named “Nero” once lived to the ripe old age of 29 in a West
German zoo.
A Lion’s eyesight is five times better than a human’s,
and it can hear prey that is more than a mile away. Using
their keen sense of smell, Lions can tell if prey is nearby
and even how long ago it was in the area. A captive Lion
eats about 15 pounds of meat each day, but a wild Lion
usually eats only twice a week.
The hunting grounds of a Pride of Lions can range
from 8 to 150 square miles. Lions rarely eat an entire kill.
Hyenas and vultures finish the rest. It may take up to four
hours for a Pride of Lions to finish eating. A male Lion eats
first, even though the females actually catch the prey. After
eating, a thirsty Lion may drink for as long as 20 minutes.
A female Lion is called a “Lioness.” Lionesses hunt
in groups. While one group of Lions drives the prey to a
certain area, another group will wait to ambush the
approaching animals.
Other Lionesses in a Pride will “baby-sit” a mother’s
cubs while she goes off to hunt.
A Lioness can run as fast as 35 mph for short distances
and can leap more than 30 feet.
There are only one-fourth the number of Lions in
Africa as there were just 40 years ago.

When you become willing to become…the ability
to do so emerges.
The Feelings You Crave Are Simply A
Switch Away. My sister told me an
interesting illustration this morning.
As she was walking, a thick gray cloud had
appeared…overhead cast. Even to the experienced eye,
it appeared that the day was going to be quite dark.
The Day was going to be very dreary, dismal and black.
Yet,when she came back around, it had become very
thin. The light had begun to show through.! Within
minutes…everything…everything had changed.
The distance between Victory and Chaos…the
slenderest, slightest shadow…often appears to be a
huge thick cloud.
Understanding…is the difference between the
chaos and victory.
Chaos can become Victory in a single moment.
Imagine this for a moment. Walk into a dark
dreary room. With a single switch, you turn on the
lights…the water fountain flowing cheerfully and the
music fills the air from your stereo. The Feelings You
Want Are Usually Just A Single Switch Away.
Your Mouth Is A Picture Of Your Heart.
Your words are portraits. When I hear you
speak, I have photographs of the gallery of your mind.

20. “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he,” (Proverbs
23:7).
Cursing reveals Disrespect towards God.
Criticism reveals Envy of Achievements.
Cynicism reveals your Failure to overcome
Disappointments.
Your words are you. And, they are incredibly
important. So, when you speak, choose your words
carefully because they truly reveal loyalty…
disloyalty…truth…anger…sensitivity.
Your Mouth…Is A Picture Of Your Heart.
Access Is First A Reward, Then, A
Continuous Test. Every time someone
allows you close to them, they expose themselves to a
possible demand, request or instruction. Limited
Access is necessary…to complete business transac-
tions, delegate tasks to others and communicate your
personal desires. But, Continuous Access is a Gift.
Access authorizes another to assess your true
value. It is an invitation to scrutinize you, evaluate you
and even disqualify you for friendship, promotion or
recommendation.
Access is also an opportunity to reveal your
Difference, your Discerning capability, your Passion
and the powerful presence of your Energy.
Access Reveals. This is why I consider it life’s
greatest gift to another.
Access is a Gift. And, a continuing Test.
Continuous Access is a Reward…Proof of
Need…Portrait of Respect and The Opportunity to
Affirm Agreement. Never…Never…Never Trivialize
This Irreplaceable Gift From Another.

21. One Small Match Can Destroy 10,000
Trees. The news tonight on television
made me simply shake my head in disbelief.
Thousands of beautiful trees were burned to the
ground. The scene was havoc. Gorgeous forests burned
into ugly, ugly ashes. Why? A smoker had tossed his
cigarette. Someone had struck a match...a forest could
not withstand a single match. Words are matches. A
single word can forever destroy The Forest of a 20-year
marriage.
A single word can ignite a rumor that wrecks
credibility.
One destructive word can ignite a lifetime of pain,
as one famous religious teacher shared on national
television one night. She overheard her mother tell a
friend she didn’t understand why her daughter was so
ugly. The famous lady minister has never forgotten it
until this day.
Words reveal our Character.
Words reveal unhealed parts of our past.
Someone once said, “Words are cheap.” Think
again.
Words launch wars.
Words create broken homes.
Words crush hope.
Words crush dreams.
Words destroy credibility.
Words can also unlock faith…dissipate
prejudice…and ignite new passion…unleash a river of
love…and impart the aroma of peace.
Words Believed Decide Dreams Achieved.

22. Every Garden Has A Snake. You Live In
An Adversarial Environment…Whether
You Discern It Or Not. Enemies usually win through
surprise. The Greatest Weapon Of An Enemy Is
Surprise. The United States discovered this with great
sorrow when Japan attacked our ships in Pearl Harbor,
in the Hawaiian Islands.
I love animals. And, I am always intrigued by the
animals who are unguarded around other animals…
while fearful of others. Sometimes, instincts are so
keen, a bad experience is unnecessary to verify an
enemy. Trust Can Become A Trap.
I watched my ducks walk around the yard
yesterday. They seemed calm. They were oblivious to
so many potential dangers. A few feet away were
several of my dogs…that would gladly have ripped
them to pieces…had I not controlled them on a leash.
They are unaware of the dogs’ nature and desire
to destroy them. My ducks were comfortable with me,
contented around me…and assumed that my dogs on
leashes were safe companions, too. They were not. I
have often wondered why God did not advise Adam and
Eve about the presence of The Serpent, satan. He
simply warned them about the loss Disobedience would
create. Every Garden Has A Snake. It is your personal
responsibility to stay aware and guarded.
People Never Discuss The Things That
Trouble Them Most. Contradictions in
our own nature greatly disturb us.
Unspoken fears toward others remain unconfront-
ed, both in our own minds and in group discussions. It

is deeply puzzling to my own heart that so many
turbulent questions remain unaddressed within our
lives…forever.
Most discussions contain a little substance, little
persuasion and quite limited usefulness. Why?
Several possible reasons: Some questions can be
answered by The Holy Spirit alone…in eternity.
Perhaps, The Answers would make a Successful Life
appear impossible…and destroy our fantasy of Hope.
It might be that our spoken questions may expose our
weakness, flaws and unseen demons in our nature.
Asking those questions would create a loss of respect or
admiration from others. Truth Unpursued Becomes
Truth Undiscovered. Thus hidden…The Non-Seeker is
never rewarded.
Ever.
He Was Worth 400 Million And Told Me
His Greatest Wealth Secret. Years ago,
at supper, I asked one of the wealthiest men here in
Dallas, “What is the most important secret necessary to
succeed in business?” His house was worth 12 million.
It looked like a museum. He had survived horrendous
legal battles and assaults on his character and life.
Yet, he never lost the aura and fact of uncommon
success.
He thought and thought. Then he responded,
“The first and most important thing in a successful
business is having information, accurate and enough.”
Never, never stop your relentless pursuit of more
information. When you think you have heard it all, you
have still not heard enough. Information is the most

to master. Sculpture an Information System for
gathering data, storing it and retrieving it. Purchase a
scanner for $100. Scan all your notes, tear-outs from
magazines and even contracts...into your personal
laptop computer. Keep it backed up on a storage disc in
case of theft. Writing notes on 500 different pieces of
paper is ludicrous. Keep all your discoveries
written…in one place. It is your Bank of Knowledge.
If You Do Not Do What God Has Placed In
Your Heart, You Will Eventually Do What
Satan Has Planted In Your Flesh. Your Focus Is
Your Master. Whatever keeps your attention has
become your master. Your Energy Is Your Seed For The
Future You Desire. What has The Holy Spirit
whispered to Your Heart in the midnight hour? What
does God talk to you about the most? Give yourself to
it. Empty your heart toward it. Why? Energy requires
a focus.
If you do not do what God has placed in your
heart, you will eventually start doing what satan places
in your flesh.
If you are not performing your Assignment, you
will become adversarial to your Assignment. Jonah is
a perfect example. God told him to go to Nineveh. He
decides to go to Tarshish. He did the opposite of the
command of God. Guilt is a force. Guilt searches for
retaliation.
Nobody can stay neutral toward God. That’s why
atheists stay angry. I asked an atheist once, “Why are
you so angry about someone you believe does not even
exist?”
Rejection Of Truth Is The Magnet For Error.

Learn The Art Of Delegating Tasks To
Others. Delegation is the Golden Key to
uncommon productivity. Great goals cannot be
achieved alone. Even Jesus, God on earth…delegated
His Authority, His Power, His Vision…to a small group
of Disciples. What can you do…that NOBODY else
could possibly do? Who are seven people in your inner
circle who are willing to receive and fulfill a request
from you? What information and training of them is
necessary? How much time are you willing to sow into
the untrained in your own home? What weakness are
you willing to ignore in another to extract the gold
hidden within them? How will you reward those who
participate in the completion of your Assignment?
Identify those divinely sent into your life. Invite them
to hear your heart…Define their roles and job

of them…and what they can expect from you.

a feeling. Temporary. Fleeting.
It can be birthed by a mind picture, a conversa-
tion, a person or a momentary fault. Conversation
activates Memories. Memories birth Feelings. It is
very deceiving to confuse your present mood swing
with the actual quality of your life.
Sometimes, a temporary fleeting moment is a very
good thing…creating an Escape from the drudgery,
distress or disastrous circumstances in a marriage or
life. These moments are Glimpses of Possibility. If
your life is miserable and you experience a fleeting
moment of joy and happiness…seize that moment.
But, examine it and magnify it for its hidden Secrets
and Codes for unlocking Change.
It Is As Important For You To Recognize

Wrong. They are discovering.

Find ways to express your appreciation...verbally,
often, generously, thoughtfully, quickly.
Tithing Releases The Seed Of
Expectation Immediately. Tithing is a
magnet that instantly sows the Seed of Expectation
into your subconscious mind. When we plant the Seeds
of Expectations, we attract good things, the blessed
things, the wonderful things, because Expectation
becomes an invisible influence, not only on ourselves,
but on others too.
You will only achieve uncommon dreams and
goals when you fuel yourself within with the power of
