measurement (PMD) - compact and precise.
Essen, May 2013 – Reliable background suppression and colour-
independent detection with switch point setting to the nearest
centimetre are the outstanding features of the new photoelectric
O5D sensor from ifm electronic. The PMDLine sensor even detects
shiny surfaces such as stainless steel without problem.
Standard photocell with time of flight measurement (PMD)
This newly developed sensor with PMD technology (Photonic Mixer
Device) combines the advantages of long ranges, reliable background
suppression, visible red light and high excess gain in one unit. In the
same price range as conventional sensors, the O5D is a clever
alternative. Another advantage is its ease of use and switch point setting
to the nearest centimetre via "+/-" buttons and display.
Surfaces and installation
Shiny, matt, dark or light objects of any colour – the O5D sensor always
ensures optimum background suppression. It allows any angle of
incidence, providing high flexibility of installation. The sensor is also IO-
Link enabled, e.g. for reading the current value. This optical expert sets
the bar high for conventional sensors.
