8. James 4 The Source of Quarrels The Solution to Quarrels Verse 1-6 Verses 7-10

10. 1 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you?

12. 2 You want something but don't get it so you kill and covet. You cannot have what you want so you quarrel and fight.

13. 21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Matthew 5:21-22

16. 2c …You do not have, because you do not ask God.

17. 7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7

18. 9 "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? Matthew 7

19. 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7

20. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

21. 9 "`Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, 10 thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:9-10

23. 4 You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think Scripture speaks to no purpose: “He jealously desires the Spirit which he has made to dwell in us”?

24. 6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."

25. 2 I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. 2 Corinthians 11

26. 3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 2 Corinthians 11

29. II. The Solutions for Quarrels (4:7-10)

30. 7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

31. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

33. 4 … “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’ ” Matthew 4:4

36. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6
