2. ATRG
• Advanced Textiles Research.
• Full integration of electronics into textiles.
Today's electronic textiles are usually made by
stitching components onto existing garments.
ATRG are currently integrating electronics into
the core of yarns to produce robust, fully
flexible, machine-washable clothing.

3. Assignment Brief 2 –
Where We Are.
• I need to create a website for an audience to expose them
to ‘ATRG’ and begin to have an understanding of what the
group do.
• Audience must have:
• a sense of the facilities on offer.
• strong sense of the expertise, staff and student produced
as a result of this ATRG facility.
• be left with the lasting impression of the ATRG and it’s
Facebook, Twitter and website details.
• be in a strong position to remember the tag line I have
created for the group.
4. Concept
• I need to create a contemporary, classy, stylish website
that highlights a unique blend of expertise and facilities.
The website should showcase the uniqueness of the
ATRG and its resources. Need to leave a lasting
impression of creativity, innovative research and
innovative design that should become synonymous with
the ATRG brand.
• The website should captivate the viewer through the use
of powerful, distinctive storytelling.
• I should also create a tagline for the ATRG.
5. Proposal
• I am going to brand the website and the general
messages around science and the modern world, mainly
because I feel ATRG are an electronic advanced group so
the theme will work well for who they are, and crucially
appeal to the target audience.
• I need to create something that shows I understand what
ATRG is and the products they produce. Through the
theme of science, shown with colours, images and text I
can engage the audience, creating curiosity but at the
same time creating user awareness. The interactive
experience and the scientific modern edge will lead to
users having a lasting positive impression of ATRG.
6. Audience
• Who will the site be aimed for?
• The audience is fairly varied in terms of its experience and
needs from the ATRG website, hence I am taking a high
level broad brush approach providing information to all,
with individual needs catered for through the contact us
facilities.
• I decided to broaden the audience so could still do sports,
medicine, retail which covers industry, and also media,
research students/researchers who are interested in the
group and want to join as a career and crucially
prospective investors.
• The site needs to be informative of the group but in a
contemporary and classy style.
• Does it need to be made responsive if the audience is
very specific?
7. Design Ideas
• After much research into ATRG and reading into each
brief and deciding upon brief 2, I have some ideas of what
I want to create from my website.
• I need to make my site classy, stylish and contemporary,
with the idea of science and textiles, I am going to create
my theme of the site based on science and the modern
world. Retail, medicine, military, sports, architecture,
aerospace and personal electronics are potential
applications for the technology.
• To help me with ideas for this, for example colours I may
use, images and ideas I have created a mood board.
8. Mood board
• Theses images interpret what the site I am creating is
about and the basic idea that ATRG are integrating
electronics into products.
9. Colour Ideas
• Colour ideas from
adobe kuler.
• Searched for themes
of textiles, electronics
and science.
• For me the 4th and 6th
will work well with the
theme and I will
concentrate on these
colours for my site.
10. Logo
• “The current logo represents our core technology where
an integrated-circuit chip (yellow) is embedded within the
fibres of a yarn (light blue).”
• This logo does nothing for ATRG. There is nothing to
show who they are and to sell themselves. They need re
branding, starting with a new logo and we have been told
to create a tag line so I am looking at potentially
incorporating this in with the logo.
11. Tag Line (Potential)
• ATRG clothes for tomorrow
• ATRG creating the clothes for tomorrow
• ATRG electronic clothes for the electrical world
• ATRG advanced clothing advanced you
• These are all very cringe and I think making the site
creative will give ATRG more of an identity than a tagline.
12. Wireframes – Home Page
• I have decided on the
scrolling as I think it
gives a modern
touch and creative
ideas such as
needles and threads
could perhaps be
used with the design.
13. Pages & Links
• I have 5 scrolling
pages for the
website, each page
being a point of what
the viewer should be
able to know when
finished on the site.
• Undecided at this
stage whether to link
each page to social
network links as it
may draw the user
away from the actual
14. Management Plan
• Plan to be finished by end November to be able to check and
validate the coding and improve upon for final deadline.
• Sticking to the timeline within the chart will allow me to finish
other projects in good time.
