Neighbourhood Plan
January update
January 2015
Jan 15 Neighbourhood plan 1
To encourage the growth and success of the retail, leisure and other commercial
businesses of the villages.
To ensure the villages' social infrastructure (clubs and societies, open spaces and
events) develops and adapts to their emerging and changing demographic.
To ensure a sufficient supply of sustainable and high quality housing (including
affordable homes and small and larger units which address changing demographic
demand) within the villages.
To support the community in continuing to make the villages safe, secure,
supportive and welcoming for all.
To develop a network of sustainable, accessible transport links within and around
the villages to create safe and inviting routes for all and especially for
pedestrians and cyclists.
Neighbourhood Plan: top
level priorities
Jan 15 Neighbourhood plan 2
By promoting the retail businesses in the High Street and along
Station Road and Cambridge Road so that they can best support
residents of the Community and those who visit and pass through it
By supporting structures and systems which enable people who work
at home to develop sustainable businesses
By providing facilities and premises for low tech businesses to
develop and thereby respond to the needs of the community
By ensuring that the Community is an attractive location for
businesses (on Vision Park and along Station Road) and their
employees
By encouraging the development and promotion of the pubs,
restaurants and cafes within the two villages
Jan 15 Neighbourhood plan 3
Commercial success: how
will we address this priority?
Dec 14 Neighbourhood plan 4
Social infrastructure: how
we will address this priority?
By providing and developing social space for the villagers including:
Formal outdoor space, playing fields and sports facilities
Informal outdoor space, open fields, park land and access to the
countryside.
Buildings, community space for activities and entertainment, for
clubs and societies use.
By supporting, and facilitating social activities and events, for all
groups and for all ages.
By communicating, and providing communication channels by all
forms of media, what is happening in the village.
By protecting and developing the faciltiies we already have in the
village and ensuring that village facilities are accessible by all.
Jan 15 Neighbourhood plan 4
Affordability : We will encourage the promotion of 40% affordable
housing for all new large scale developments.
Ownership : We support diverse ownership profiles, including
privately owned, shared ownership, public and private rented and
co-operative models.
Development : By encouraging self build and smaller builders to
develop sites, we can support local businesses and create
opportunities for innovation and a localised supply chain.
Carbon Reduction : We support the county’s adopted design guide
and would encourage developers to use assessment tools such as
BREAM’s Code for Sustainable Homes to support their proposals.
Infrastucture : We recognise the need for any new housing
development to be considered in relation to the capacity of the
existing physical, social and transport infrastucture of the villages.
Jan 15 Neighbourhood plan 5
Sustainable housing: how
will we address this priority?
By keeping all public areas free from litter and graffiti; enhancing
those we have and increasing provision where possible.
By supporting the formation and continuation of community
volunteer groups (e.g. NW, enviro-volunteers) and community events
(Big Tidy Up)
By providing a community information exchange that signposts “go-
to” groups, provides a community calendar for local events, and acts
as a 2-way flow for consultation and feedback
By using our influence to ensure adequate access to education,
health & social care and spiritual wellbeing for residents of all ages.
Jan 15 Neighbourhood plan 6
Safe and secure: how we
will address this priority?
By developing and maintaining a network of footpaths and cycleways
within the Community
By supporting the development of cycleways linking the Community
with adjacent villages and with Cambridge
By engaging with bus companies such that they can offer practical
alternatives for travel to and from the Community
By ensuring that parking is available for those who need to use their
cars to travel to, through and from the Community
By being proactive and doing what’s needed to make the Community
a safe place within which to travel
Jan 15 Neighbourhood plan 7

Neighbourhood plan jan 15 all input

  • 1. Neighbourhood Plan January update January 2015 Jan 15 Neighbourhood plan 1
  • 2. To encourage the growth and success of the retail, leisure and other commercial businesses of the villages. To ensure the villages' social infrastructure (clubs and societies, open spaces and events) develops and adapts to their emerging and changing demographic. To ensure a sufficient supply of sustainable and high quality housing (including affordable homes and small and larger units which address changing demographic demand) within the villages. To support the community in continuing to make the villages safe, secure, supportive and welcoming for all. To develop a network of sustainable, accessible transport links within and around the villages to create safe and inviting routes for all and especially for pedestrians and cyclists. Neighbourhood Plan: top level priorities Jan 15 Neighbourhood plan 2
  • 3. By promoting the retail businesses in the High Street and along Station Road and Cambridge Road so that they can best support residents of the Community and those who visit and pass through it By supporting structures and systems which enable people who work at home to develop sustainable businesses By providing facilities and premises for low tech businesses to develop and thereby respond to the needs of the community By ensuring that the Community is an attractive location for businesses (on Vision Park and along Station Road) and their employees By encouraging the development and promotion of the pubs, restaurants and cafes within the two villages Jan 15 Neighbourhood plan 3 Commercial success: how will we address this priority?
  • 4. Dec 14 Neighbourhood plan 4 Social infrastructure: how we will address this priority? By providing and developing social space for the villagers including: Formal outdoor space, playing fields and sports facilities Informal outdoor space, open fields, park land and access to the countryside. Buildings, community space for activities and entertainment, for clubs and societies use. By supporting, and facilitating social activities and events, for all groups and for all ages. By communicating, and providing communication channels by all forms of media, what is happening in the village. By protecting and developing the faciltiies we already have in the village and ensuring that village facilities are accessible by all. Jan 15 Neighbourhood plan 4
  • 5. Affordability : We will encourage the promotion of 40% affordable housing for all new large scale developments. Ownership : We support diverse ownership profiles, including privately owned, shared ownership, public and private rented and co-operative models. Development : By encouraging self build and smaller builders to develop sites, we can support local businesses and create opportunities for innovation and a localised supply chain. Carbon Reduction : We support the county’s adopted design guide and would encourage developers to use assessment tools such as BREAM’s Code for Sustainable Homes to support their proposals. Infrastucture : We recognise the need for any new housing development to be considered in relation to the capacity of the existing physical, social and transport infrastucture of the villages. Jan 15 Neighbourhood plan 5 Sustainable housing: how will we address this priority?
  • 6. By keeping all public areas free from litter and graffiti; enhancing those we have and increasing provision where possible.
