3. VRCE acquired status of a “National Institute of Technology” under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 by Department of Secondary & Higher Education on 26 June 2002

4. The NIT Act passed by the parliament in 2007 declares VNIT as an " Institute of National Importance " for India.

5. 9 UG programmes, 14 PG programmes.

6. >13,000 graduates so far spread in more than 20 countries.

8. The Chairman of Board of Governors of VNIT is Shri S. S. Sohoni (former Secretary to the President of India).
