1. +Serving God!
Matt 25: 30 – “And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer
darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
1. Verdict – Unprofitable – useless, worthless and slothful
2. Never denied that he was a servant. If servants are judged
thus, what of enemies? Judgment begins in God’s house.
3. What does it mean to call someone lord and master, and be
his servant? Do we cut it? Even before calculating profit.
Servants?
4. Thought ill of his master, and disliked his service. Is God’s
work enjoyable to you? Do you delight in Him? What do you
enjoy?
5. Though he did nothing, he thought himself justified. All Else
was God’s fault.
6. He didn’t even use the talent for his benefit, or miss
appropriate it.What will be the fate of those who used it for
self or Sin?
7. Wickedness is – doing nothing, not to live for Christ, not to
bear fruit.Wicked and Slothful is like Meroz – Do nothing!
8. He was condemned to Hell!
2. +
Serving God Unprofitably
Judges 5:23
‘Curse Meroz,’ said the angel[a] of the Lord,
‘Curse its inhabitants bitterly,
Because they did not come to the help of the Lord,
To the help of the Lord against the mighty.’
Matt 12:30 “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he
who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.”
“This is war, and there is no neutral ground. If you’re
not on my side, you’re the enemy; if you’re not helping,
you’re making things worse.
Judges 4: 9, 17-22
3. +The Key Issues
Cowardice : Don’t be stalled by the fear of ridicule, hate or
despise. Do the right thing! Make full proof of your ministry.
(1 Tim 4:12) . Go with courage and only shake the dust if
they won’t listen. Matt 10:14.
2 Tim 1:7,8 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of
power and of love and of a sound mind. 8 Therefore do not
be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His
prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel
according to the power of God,
False Humility: Assessed feebleness.True humility
stimulates and results in obedience, false humility cripples.
(Jael vs Meron)
Indolence/Laziness/Wicked. I want to go to heaven, but I
don’t want to knock on doors. I want reward without work!
The work is to learn how to witness, be a better witness!
4. +
God’s Probation
Luke 13:6-9
He also spoke this parable:“A certain man had a
fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came
seeking fruit on it and found none. 7 Then he said to
the keeper of his vineyard,‘Look, for three years I
have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find
none. Cut it down; why does it use up the
ground?’ 8 But he answered and said to him,‘Sir, let
it alone this year also, until I dig around it and
fertilize it. 9 And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after
that[a] you can cut it down.
5. +
Repentance
2 Chronicles 7:14 – “if My people who are called by
My name will humble themselves, and pray and
seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then
I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin
and heal their land”
True Humility
Pray and Seek God’s Face – God’s Will and
Perspectives
Turn from Wicked ways – Doing Nothing!
God will Hear, Forgive their Sins and
Heal their land – Make them productive again!
6. +Unprofitable Servants
Luke 17:7-10 The Message (MSG)
7-10 “Suppose one of you has a servant who comes in
from plowing the field or tending the sheep. Would you
take his coat, set the table, and say, ‘Sit down and eat’?
Wouldn’t you be more likely to say, ‘Prepare dinner;
change your clothes and wait table for me until I’ve
finished my coffee; then go to the kitchen and have your
supper’? Does the servant get special thanks for doing
what’s expected of him? It’s the same with you. When
you’ve done everything expected of you, be matter-of-fact
and say, ‘The work is done. What we were told to do, we
did.’”
7. +The Verdict of Grace!
Matt 25:21 - His lord said to him,‘Well done, good and
faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will
make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of
your lord.’
Faithful – not brilliant, distinguished or perfect!
Faithfulness is more important than volume. Better to be
faithful with little than unfaithful with much.
Faithfulness is also full of faith. The one who risked the
most got rewarded the most. Being productive and useful
requires faith.
Good and faithful means, doing your best with the few
things, and not wasting any opportunity to faithfully do
good!
9. +Why are we here? Who are we?
What is God’s Agenda? What is God’s
Will?
What is God’s purpose for the Church?
What is God’s mandate for his people
today, and what is going on?
What was the pattern for the first
Church?
What did Jesus believe the problem was,
and what is his vision?
10. +
God’s Will? What He Wants?
Eph 5:17 “Don’t live
carelessly, unthinkingly. Make
sure you understand what the
Master wants” (MSG)
Eph 5:17 “Therefore do not be
unwise, but understand what
the will of the Lord is.” (NKJV)

What is God’s Commission and
Commandment to His People?
What is God’s purpose for the
Church? What is God’s mandate
for his people today, and what is
going on? The Great
Commission and the Great
Commandment Matt 28:19-20
and Matt 22:37-40
12. +
The Great Commission!
Matt 28:18-20 - “And Jesus came and spoke to them,
saying,“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on
earth. 19 Go therefore[a] and make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I
have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to
the end of the age.” Amen.” (NKJV)
“Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge:
“God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go
out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of
life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I
have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day
after day after day, right up to the end of the age.”
13. +
The Great Commandment!
Matt 22:37-40 “Jesus said to him,“‘You shall love
the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul,
and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and great
commandment. 39 And the second is like it:‘You shall
love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 On these two
commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
(NKJV)
Jesus said,“‘Love the Lord your God with all your
passion and prayer and intelligence.’This is the most
important, the first on any list. But there is a second to
set alongside it:‘Love others as well as you love
yourself.’These two commands are pegs; everything in
God’s Law and the Prophets hangs from them.”

15. +Pattern for The First Church
41-42 That day about three thousand took him at his
word, were baptized and were signed up.They
committed themselves to the teaching of the
apostles, the life together, the common meal, and
the prayers. 43-45 Everyone around was in awe—all
those wonders and signs done through the apostles!
And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony,
holding everything in common. They sold whatever
they owned and pooled their resources so that each
person’s need was met. 46-47 They followed a daily
discipline of worship in the Temple followed by
meals at home, every meal a celebration, exuberant
and joyful, as they praised God. People in general
liked what they saw. Every day their number grew
as God added those who were saved.
16. +Patter for The First Church
41 Then those who gladly[a] received his word were
baptized; and that day about three thousand souls
were added to them. 42 And they continued steadfastly
in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the
breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came
upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were
done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed
were together, and had all things in common, 45 and
sold their possessions and goods, and divided them
among all, as anyone had need.46 So continuing daily
with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread
from house to house, they ate their food with gladness
and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having
favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the
church[b] daily those who were being saved.

18. +Jesus’Vision of the Problem
Matt 9:35-38 “Then Jesus made a circuit of all
the towns and villages. He taught in their
meeting places, reported kingdom news,
and healed their diseased bodies, healed
their bruised and hurt lives. When he looked
out over the crowds, his heart broke. So
confused and aimless they were, like sheep
with no shepherd.“What a huge harvest!” he
said to his disciples.“How few workers! On
your knees and pray for harvest hands!”
