Functions Controls autonomic functions The hypothalamus signals the medulla where the cells that power the autonomic systems are situated. Regulates body temperature, blood pressure, sweating, etc. Homeostasis Regulates emotions Links to the nervous and endocrine systems Motor functions Regulates food and water intake Brain structures such as the amygdala, the hippocampus and the olfactory cortex send signals to the hypothalamus and assist in regulating food intake.
