2. In the beginning, G-d created the heavens and the Earth. At first, the
Earth was empty, but the spirit of God was hovering over the face of
the waters. God said, Let there be light: and there was light. God saw
the light and God divided light from darkness. God called the light,
day, and the darkness, night.

3. On the Second Day, God divided the sky from the Earth.
G-d said, let the waters under the heavens be gathered together in
one place: and it was so. God called the dry land Earth, and the
gathering of waters, the sea.

4. On the third day, G-d separated the land and the sea. God
said "Let the land produce vegetation such as seed-bearing
plants and trees that bear fruit.”

5. On the fourth day, G-d put the sun, moon, and stars in their right
places. God said, “Let there be signs to divide the day from the night:”
and it was so. God made two great lights, the greater light to rule the
day is the sun and the lesser light to rule the night is the moon.

6. On the fifth day, G-d put the fish, birds, and reptiles, such as snakes and
lizards, in their places. G-d said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living
creatures, and let birds fly above the Earth in the open air.” And G-d created
the great sea monsters, and every living creature that moves. G-d blessed
them by saying, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let
birds multiply on the Earth.”

7. On the 6th day, G-d created land animals like cows and sheep and the very first human beings--Adam
and Eve. G-d said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness and let them have control over the
fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the Earth and over
every creeping thing that creeps on the Earth.” G-d blessed Adam and Eve and told them to be fruitful
and multiply, and fill the Earth.

8. On the seventh day, G-d looked at what he created.
He stopped working and rested. This day is known as
Shabbat, a day of rest.

9. Adam and Eve
Adam and Eve were the first human beings on Earth. They went to live in the
Garden of Eden, a beautiful place where everything is available and ready for them. They have
beautiful fruit trees from which to eat and plants, flowers and rivers to enjoy. Adam and Eve are
able to eat off any tree or plant except one: the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil which G-d
does not allow them to eat from. However, the evil snake convinces Eve to take a bite, and
she gives one to Adam, too. So Adam and Eve are thrown out of the Garden of Eden as a
punishment for disobeying G-d.
