How Do I Share My Testimony?
What is a Testimony?
1. It is how your story connects to Jesus.
2. It is telling others of what Jesus has done for you.
3. It is your story of how you came to be a follower of Jesus.
Why Share My Testimony?
Luke 8:38-39
Now the man from whom the demons had departed begged Him that he might be with Him.
But Jesus sent him away, saying, “Return to your own house, and tell what great things
God has done for you.” And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what
great things Jesus had done for him.
Revelation 12:11
They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did
not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.

2. Acknowledge that they deserve hell.
3. Declare that they have turned back to God.
4. Tell Jesus that they put their trust in Him and all that He did for them.
5. Affirm that Jesus is Lord and that they will obey and follow Him.
Testimony Guidelines
Things to Avoid
1. Religious or church words, unless you explain them.
2. Mention of non-central doctrines, denominations, or churches.
3. Being negative or critical of people or churches.
4. Exaggerating or lying to try to impress or convince people.
5. Giving the impression that the Christian life is easy.
6. Using a consumer marketing approach.
7. Forcing yourself on people.
8. Trying to argue or pressure someone into the kingdom.
9. Don't go into inappropriate details of past sins or experiences.
Things to Do
1. Be real and humble.
2. Glorify God not yourself.
3. Make the main focus Jesus and the gospel.
4. Use Bible verses in your testimony. (Hebrews 4:12)
5. Be prepared. (2 Timothy 4:2)
6. Relax and trust God- you can’t save them only God can.
7. Pray to God.
8. Allow the Spirit to guide your conversation.
9. Know when to stop – don’t overwhelm people with too much information.
10.Pay attention and actively listen to the person with whom you are talking.
11. Be gentle, courteous, respectful, patient, merciful, and gracious. (1 Peter 3:16)
12.Keep it about 3 to 5 minutes long.
