Ltd released a report titled Safety Excellence Preparedness: A study Report against the backdrop of the 9th Safety Symposium & Exposition 2015 organised by CII on 10-11 September, 2015 at Kolkata. In this report an effort has been made to unearth the major issues which are impacting the safety performance of Indian Industries in the Eastern Region. A survey was conducted with the help of a structured checklist covering twenty one elements. 10 broad parameters have been identified & discussed for improving Occupational Health and Safety performance of the industries in Eastern Region. These elements are training, contractor management, general safety, risk management, hierarchy of control, injury and incident reporting, journey safety, electrical safety and occupational health and hygiene. There is much hype about Kanban since it was used by supermarkets and then perfected and introduced to the world by Toyota. Since then, not only manufacturers but all businesses looked into this simple but extremely powerful approach. As project managers and software developers are yearning for better project management and visibility on all aspects of their work, Kanban naturally blipped on their radar. In this session, we will look at the origins of Kanban, how it applies to software development along with misunderstandings and myths. We will dive into concepts such as limiting work in progress, Minimum Viable Product and Minimum Marketable Feature and see how these concepts can make our lives easier. You've got GeoServer running and you've loaded some data that users can consume. Now what? For many users, GeoServer is only used to serve rendered map images, but in this workshop, attendees will learn about some of the features that GeoServer that are often overlooked. The specific topics that will be covered include: - updating data on the server using WFS-T - Web Processing Service for server-side geospatial analysis - rendering transforms to dynamically transform your data into heatmaps - filtering data based on user input - using SQL Views with GeoServer - working with time-enabled data Each of these skills can be applied to making beautiful and dynamic web applications powered by GeoServer. This workshop will assume that you are familiar with basic GeoServer concepts and interaction, such as how to load and publish a shapefile.

In an increasingly agile world, waiting 10+ minutes for test results is a huge no-no. A new generation of browser automation tools recognize that need-for-speed and enable frontend developers to quickly automate their browser tests. But those tests also need to check the application’s visual elements. Does the login page look OK? Does it look good in Firefox? What about mobile browsers, in 768px width? And does it still look good in 455px with a device pixel ratio of 2? To check the visual quality of your application, across all browsers and in all those responsive widths, would necessitate a humongous grid of browsers, and an unreasonable amount of time. Far more than the 2-5 minutes usually available for a developer’s tests. Applitools’ new Storybook and Cypress SDKs enable you to do just that: write a set of tests that run through your pages and components, and have the pages and components render in Applitools’ cloud, in parallel, on a large set of browsers and widths, and return the result in less than a minute. Watch Gil Tayar's presentation, as he discusses the new generation of visual testing tools. Tools that move the burden of the visual work to cloud, and enable you to check what was till now impossible to check locally: the visual appearance of your application across all responsive platforms.

Every software development cycle is rife with inefficiency. Seasoned devs know the pain of getting access to essential remote systems, waiting for tests to run (and then fail), or debugging with only log files. This talk teaches you how to best leverage Kubernetes, remote infrastructure and related tooling to create a dev cycle that maximizes velocity and minimizes developer friction and frustration. Using tools such as Kubernetes, Docker and Telepresence, I will walk attendees through several advanced techniques that can be used to produce an effective developer experience and optimized dev loop. The goal of this is to eliminate many sources of frustrating inefficiency and reduce cycle time between releases. I will demonstrate how to incrementally adopt some of these techniques and how to approach introducing new and unfamiliar technology and techniques to skeptical dev teams.
