• 4. David ordered the priests Zadok and Abiathar to bring the ark

• [Ahitoph's plan is foiled]
• 1. Ahithophel offered to immediately lead an
army to hunt down David (verses 1-4)
• 2. Hushai’s treachery was appreciated by
Absalom and the crowd (verses 5-14)
• 3. Hushai informs David to cross the Jordan
immediately (vv. 15-22)
• 4. Ahithophel was defeated and hanged himself,
and the two sides made war on the east of
Jordan (vv. 23-29)

• [2 Samuel 17:14] "Absalom and all Israel said,
"The plan of Hushai the Archite is better than the
plan of Hithophel. "This is because the LORD has
determined to destroy the good counsel of

follow his counsel, he saddled his donkey and

Ephraim, and 20,000 rebels died in battle (vv.
1-8)
• 2. Absalom's hair was tied around the oak
tree, and Joab stabbed him to death (vv. 9-18)

David (vv. 19-32)
