CONTRAVENE
Our band
‱ Our band is called Contravene and their track title
we are using is ‘What Took You So Long’ and our
production company is Disco Tigers.
‱ A summary of our idea is to demonstrate the
common stereotypes of youth and to show their
fun side when socialising and causing mischief.
Our song fits this idea perfectly as the lyrics
portray the boys’ attitudes e.g. ‘sometimes I’m
bad and sometimes I’m rotten’

Our inspiration
‱ We took inspiration for our music video from
other artists in this genre. For example, Arctic
Monkeys ‘Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re
High’ and The libertines ‘What Became Of The
Likely Lads’.
Our inspiration
‱ We took inspiration from these videos as they
exemplify the codes and conventions that we
also want to include in our music video
‱ The style of those music videos are also
similar to how we want ours; quite laid back
and relaxed which reflects our bands attitudes
and beliefs which is to be chilled and passive
Our technique in our video
‱ Our video includes a lot of montage clips, we did this
so we can include more content in a creative way
which will intrigue the audience and be interesting for
them
‱ We also have some split screens to show the
relationship between the boys and the girls and how
they share the same interests and hobbies.
‱ Furthermore, we also have some editing techniques
such as cross cutting and straight cuts. This is to make
our video more realistic and to also create enigma as
the cross cutting can help tell the narrative in a more
creative way
