2. FLAG
Due to much debate amongst historians at to which type of blue was correct, the
blue was changed to royal blue as a agreement by Republic Act No. 8491 which
was passed on February 12, 1998. This is the current version of the Philippine
National Flag.
The blue field stands
for common unity and
the noble desires of
the Filipino people.
The white field
stands for purity.
The white triangle
with equal sides of
the flag is symbolic
of equality among
men.
The sun stands for the
gigantic strides that
have been made by the
Sons of the land on the
road to progress and
civilization.
The three stars in the triangle stand for
the three major geographical divisions of
the country which are Luzon, Visayas and
Mindana
The red field
symbolizes the
eagerness of the
Filipino people to
shed blood in
defense for their
country.
3. HISTORY OF PHILIPPINES
The Philippines of ficially known as the Republic of the Philippines
(Filipino: Repúblika ng Pilipinas), is a sovereign island countr y in
Southeast Asia situated in the western Pacific Ocean.
The Philippine archipelago was settled at least 30,000 year s ago, when
migrations from the Indonesi an archipelago and elsewhere are believed to

settlement).
Kinship groups were led by a datu (chief), and within the barangay there
were broad social divisions consisti ng of nobles, freemen, and dependent
and landless agricultural worker s and slaves.
Over the centuries, Indo -M alay migrants were joined by Chinese trader s.
A major development in the early period was the introducti on of Islam to
the Philippines by trader s and proselytiz er s from the Indonesian islands.
Its capital city is Manila while its most populous city is Quezon City.
