PROJECT PROPOSAL – Vocational Skills Training Institutes
VSTI is a project for setting up Vocational Skills Training Institutes which will produce skilled
workers in trades and services which have a high demand in the national economy. The typical
entrant is young, from lower income groups, and with little aptitude for academic courses. Typical
trades are those required in manufacturing industry, though areas such as health, retail, office
services, etc. may be added subsequently. The central theme is to replace today’s rough-and-
ready apprentices with formally-trained and certified industrial workmen of standardized quality.
The business model is that of a commercial venture with healthy top and bottom lines. The project
has an intrinsically large size, with many verticals, and is scalable from small beginnings.

iTutor is a project for tutoring candidates who wish to appear for Board level or All-India
level of competitive exams. Its centerpiece is the technology backbone consisting of a
database-driven secure website that performs all routine education and administration
duties, leaving the tutor free to provide student-specific tutoring on broadband internet
through AV-on-IP.
The business model is that of a commercial venture with healthy top and bottom lines. The
project has an intrinsically large size, with several verticals, and is scalable from small
beginnings.
