ESEC/FSE is a premier international forum for researchers, engineering research. Research papers should describe innovative and significant
practitioners, and educators to present and discuss world-class original research relevant to ESEC/FSE. Submissions of papers describing
innovations, trends, experiences, and challenges in the field of groundbreaking approaches to emerging problems will be considered based on
software engineering. timeliness and potential impact.
ESEC/FSE 2011 will offer a strong technical program with an exciting
list of events. It will take place in Szeged, Hungary, a unique place in Artifact Evaluation
Central Europe, known as the City of Sunshine. To reward creation of artifacts and replication of experiments, authors of accepted

Research papers should describe innovative and significant practitioners, and educators to present and discuss world-class original research relevant to ESEC/FSE. Submissions of papers describing innovations, trends, experiences, and challenges in the field of groundbreaking approaches to emerging problems will be considered based on software engineering. timeliness and potential impact. ESEC/FSE 2011 will offer a strong technical program with an exciting list of events. It will take place in Szeged, Hungary, a unique place in Artifact Evaluation Central Europe, known as the City of Sunshine. To reward creation of artifacts and replication of experiments, authors of accepted research papers can have their artifacts (tools, data, models, videos...) evaluated by an Important dates Artifact Evaluation Committee. Artifacts that pass muster will be recognized formally, and be fast-tracked for additional presentation. Artifacts that are deemed especially Research papers due March 11, 2011 meritorious will be singled out for special recognition in the proceedings and at the Notification of authors June 3, 2011 conference. Workshop proposals due March 21, 2011 Industrial Track (Submission: 2011-04-03, Notification: 2011-06-03) Organization committee In 2011, a new industrial track will be added to the ESEC/FSE program. Industrial track presentations are expected to have a strong focus on industrial applications of software engineering techniques, tools, methodologies, processes, and practices, and on case General Chair studies and reports on their actual usage in industry. Tibor Gyimóthy, University of Szeged, Hungary Program Chair Andreas Zeller, Saarland University, Germany New Ideas Track (Submission: 2011-06-12) We invite short papers on ideas in early stages of development. Participants will have the Workshop Chairs opportunity to present a summary of their work in the form of a short talk, with a paper Henry Muccini, University of L'Aquila, Italy and/or a poster. Marsha Chechik, University of Toronto, Canada Doctoral Symposium Chairs Mark Harman, University College London, UK Tool Demonstrations Track (Submission: 2011-06-12) Antonia Bertolino, ISTI-CNR, Italy We invite innovative research tool demonstrations, intended to show early Industrial Track Chairs implementations of novel software engineering concepts, as well as mature prototypes. Frank Tip, IBM, USA Volker Gruhn, Universität Duisburg-Essen, Germany Technical Briefings Track (Proposal subm.: 2011-04-03, Notif.: 2011-06-03) New Ideas Track Chair At ESEC/FSE Technical Briefings, participants will be able to attend topic presentations of Martin Robillard, McGill University, Canada their choice to learn about the state-of-the-art in different areas of Software Engineering. Tool Demonstrations Track Chairs Proposals for topics and presenters are welcome. Michele Lanza, University of Lugano, Switzerland Anthony Cleve, INRIA Lille, France Doctoral Symposium (Submission: 2011-04-03, Notification: 2011-06-03) Technical Briefings Track Chair The symposium will provide PhD students with an opportunity to present and discuss their Lionel Briand, Simula Research Laboratory, Norway research with senior researchers in the software engineering community. This year we will Artifact Evaluation Chairs establish PhD Working Groups to stimulate interaction within the student Shriram Krishnamurthi, Brown University, USA community and between students and the wider conference. The groups will be open to Carlo Ghezzi, Polictecnico di Milano, Italy both current PhD students and to early career researchers. The aim of each group will be Publicity Chair to identify and clarify the principal research questions and challenges within a current Andrian Marcus, Wayne State University, USA subarea of software engineering research. Local Organization Chairs Árpád Beszédes, University of Szeged, Hungary Workshops (Workshop proposal submission: 2011-03-21, Notification: 2011-04-08) László Vidács, University of Szeged, Hungary ESEC/FSE 2011 is soliciting proposals for workshops to be held in conjunction (before or Publications Chair after) with the main conference. Workshops aim to provide opportunities for exchanging views, advancing ideas, and discussing preliminary results in various areas of software Gordon Fraser, Saarland University, Germany engineering research and applications. Workshops are not an alternative forum for Web Chair presenting full research papers. If you would like to bring together a group of researchers László Vidács, University of Szeged, Hungary on a topic you consider relevant and exciting, you should consider submitting a workshop proposal.
