Grief is the response to loss, particularly
to the loss of someone or something that has
died, to which a bond or affection was
formed.
Bereavement and Grief are often used
interchangeably.
Grief is the normal internal feeling one
experiences in reaction to a loss.

1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling
you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one
another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the
bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit— just as you were called to one
hope when you were called— 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father
of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
7 But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. 8 This is why

Maintaining The Unity of The Spirit’s (A Study of
Ephesians 4:1-31)

15. 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and
blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and
craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth
in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is,
Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every
supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does
its work.
What The Spirit Wants (Eph 4:17-19)
17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer
live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are
darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of
the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having
lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to
indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.
What The Spirit Hates (Eph 4:20-24)
20 You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. 21 Surely you heard of
him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old
self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in
the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like

16. The Remedy: (Eph 4:25-31)
25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak
truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one
body. 26 "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go
down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a
foothold. 28 He who has been stealing must steal no longer,
but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that
he may have something to share with those in need.
29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths,
but only what is helpful for building others up according to
their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do
not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed
for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage
and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of
malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving
each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

17. Eleven Things That Grieve The Holy Spirit
(Ephesians 4)- When we fail to live lives worthy of the calling we had received.
- When we fail to be humble and gentle.
- When we become overbearing with one another.
- When we are not peace-loving.
- When we fail to exercise our gifts or when we use them wrongly.
- When we refuse to grow and mature in the faith.
- When we only pay lip service to the truth.
- When we harden our hearts and live like non-Christians.
- When we allow our anger to cause us to sin.
- When we talk carelessly and insensitively to one another.
- When we neglect kindness; compassion and forgiveness.

13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into
all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he
hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will bring

Acts 24:24-26
24 Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was a
Jewess. He sent for Paul and listened to him as he spoke about faith
in Christ Jesus. 25 As Paul discoursed on righteousness, self-
control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, "That's
enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will
send for you." 26 At the same time he was hoping that Paul would
offer him a bribe, so he sent for him frequently and talked with
him.
What The Holy Spirit Loves to
Do

19. The Holy Spirit is like light to us in three
ways:
- When we close our eyes to this light or
belittle what we are meant to see by this
brightness, we are guilty of resisting the
Spirit (Acts 7:51), or quenching (1 Thess.
5:19) or grieving the Spirit (Eph. 4:30).
- Refusing to see and to savor what the
Spirit means to show us is sin.
- (1) By exposing our guilt; (2) by illuminating the word of
God; and (3) by showing us Christ.
- As Divine Light, the Holy Spirit works to reveal sin, reveal
the truth, and reveal God’s glory.

20. Isa 63:7-10
7 I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for
which he is to be praised, according to all the Lord has done
for us —
yes, the many good things he has done for the house of Israel,
according to his compassion and many kindnesses.
8 He said, "Surely they are my people, sons who will not be
false to me"; and so he became their Savior.
9 In all their distress he too was distressed, and the angel
of his presence saved them.
In his love and mercy he redeemed them; he lifted them up and
carried them all the days of old.
10 Yet they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit.
So he turned and became their enemy and he himself fought
against them.
Warnings Against Grieving The
Spirit:

21. Heb 10:26-34
26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the
knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a
fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume
the enemies of God. 28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died
without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much
more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has
trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy
thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has
insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, "It is
mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his
people." 31 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the
living God.
32 Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when
you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering. 33
Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at
other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. 34
You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the
