10. Pricing models
Pay-per-Learner
• It is the most common pricing model. The school pays a flat fee per registered and/or active learner.
• Price Range: around 5 euros/learner /month (depending on the number of learners).
Pay-per-Course
• Various models: specific or unlimited number of courses and/or students.
• Price Range: from 10 euros/course/month (depending on the number of courses and/or learners).
Pay-per-Use
• Various models: fee-per-learner-per module, fee-per-learner-per-course, fee based on elements or
material delivered, fee based on number of learners, material, duration and traffic generated, fee based
on number of class attendees, etc.
• Price Range: from 0.50-10 euros /learner /course.
License Fee
• A one-time (upfront) fee to access the software, or a fee to access the software for a specific period of
time (monthly, annually, etc.).
• Price Range: from 100 to X0 000 euros.
etc.

11. Computer Based Testing (CBT)
A fixed-length test presents a number of questions/items to each examinee.
Item types:
• Multiple Choice
• Multiple Response
• True-False
• Drag and Drop
• Matching
• Error Correction
• Fill in the Blank
• Short Answer
• Essay
• etc.

12. Benefits of using computers for tests
• Large numbers can be marked quickly and accurately,
• Students progress and response can be monitored,
• Assessment can be offered in an open access environment,
• Assessments can be stored and reused,
• Immediate feedback and grading can be given,
• Self-pacing,
• Assessment items can be randomly selected to provide a different test to
each student.

12
13. Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT)
• the items presented to an examinee are tailored to the
individual examinee's ability.
• If the examinee answers the item presented correctly
then a more difficult item is presented next.
• If the examinee answers the item incorrectly,
then an easier item is presented next.
• Low-ability examinees will be presented with relatively
easy items,
while high-ability examinees with more difficult items.

13
14. Advantages of CAT
• examinee-centered,
• immediate scoring,
• increased test security,
• increased motivation,
• avoidance of boredom from answering too easy questions,
• avoidance of frustration from answering too hard questions,
eLearning - A. Economides -
conta.uom.gr
14
15. • increased efficiency (fewer items are needed in
almost half the time),
• greater precision with less items,
• improved accuracy for estimating high and low ability
examinees,
• longer item pool lifetime (fewer items from the item
pool are exposed).
