- Your slide should have plenty of white or negative space. Donât feel like you need to fill empty areas on the slide with logos or other unnecessary graphics or text boxes that donât help give better understanding. The less words and clutter on the slide, the more powerful the visual message is.
- The best slides have no text on them, making it virtually meaningless without narration of the speaker. Lots of text and bullet points is boring to the audience.
- Limit slide transitions and keep it professional. Lots of transition can get tedious and slow, making the audience bored.
- Use high quality graphics and photos. You can take your own pictures, purchase professional photos, or use available ones online. Never stretch or distort an image, it will degrade the resolution and make it hard to see. Try to avoid PowerPoint clip art or cartoon art. It is not very interesting and most likely been seen before.
- You need to have a unique presentation with new content because most audiences have seen most templates before on PowerPoint.
- Presenters tend to display to much information and data. Using graphs and charts can help display your data in a easier and more visual way.
- You need to know which color is easiest to see and read no mater where you aresitting in the room.
- Use the same font throughout the entire slide presentation and donât use more then two complementary fonts.
- Only use video and audio when it is appropriate. Us it to show concrete examples that are easy to follow along with and learn from. Video clips will also give a change of pace in the presentation giving interest to your audience.
