    Meeting and interacting with people is crucial to finding and maintaining success in the real 
    estate business. But it’s important to remember that this can also leave you vulnerable. By 
    taking the following precautions you can increase your safety while maintaining a thriving 
    business. 
     
         •     Avoid being alone in remote locations with someone you haven’t met before. 
         •     Meet with potential clients and customers in public places before you meet with 
               them alone. 
         •     Until you really know someone, remain vigilant regardless of their gender, 
               appearance, dress, or charm. 
         •     Try to take separate cars – if that’s not possible, you should drive because it gives you 
               more control. 
         •     Prepare daily work plans and make sure someone else knows where you are. 
         •     Take your cell phone or other device with you at all times – program emergency 
               numbers and key contacts you can get in touch with quickly. 
         •     When showing property to someone, follow rather than lead him/her through the 
               house. 
         •     Make sure you preview a house before showing it. Know the location of all the exits 
               and make sure the exit doors are not locked during your showing. 
         •     If you feel uncomfortable or threatened, leave immediately. 
         •     If you feel there is an eminent risk to your safety call 911. 
         •     Trust your instincts – if you feel unsafe there may be a reason. 
         •     Do not give out your personal address or contact information. 
     
        Taking safety seriously can make a difference.
