Student: But how to surrender? Every time I think of surrendering; I feel that I am being submissive to something imaginary. I feel that I am becoming paranoid. Why is this so?
2. Student: Sir, it is often said that we have to surrender to
our Guru or God.
Teacher: It is true that surrender is held in very high
esteem!
Student: But how to surrender? Every time I think of
surrendering; I feel that I am being submissiveto
something imaginary. I feel that I am becoming paranoid.
Why is this so?
Teacher: It is because; we are completely amalgamated
in our body, instincts, feelings and our thoughts; we are
unable to “sense” our innate core, which is beyond our
consciousness! Hence we don’t realize that surrender to
Guru or God; is actually; surrender to our own innate
core; our true self! If and when this becomes clear the
feeling of being paranoid would not emerge!
Student: OK! This makes sense theoretically; but; how to
actually surrender? Even if I say or think that I have
surrendered, how can I vouch for actually having
surrendered from the depths of my unconscious and
subconscious mind? Moreover; honestly speaking; I
cannot deny the fact that mostof the time I behave
3. according to my urges, impulses, passions, feelings and
ideas! How can I then assume or convince to even
myself; that I have surrendered?
Teacher: This is a very honest admission. Most of us
routinely endorse the value of surrender. But we actually
don’t understand much about it. It just means that we
don’t oppose, we don’t challenge! When we say that we
surrender; it actually means that we wish to or would like
to be in that coveted position (which we know nothing
about) of surrender!
Student: Can you please explain further?
Teacher: Yes. The beginning of the (unknowingly)
surrendering embodies; the acceptance of the advice of
NAMASMARAN;by our Guru at least provisionally; and
try to implement it.
Later; the continuous and protracted practice of
NAMASMARANgradually enables us to get rid of the
urges and desires of our lower or bodily self and get
closer to the nonphysical yet distinct true self and begin
to realize that it is no other than NAMA i.e. our Guru!
4. This pleasant state of being closer to our true self is the
next stage of surrender; that ensues!
Thereafter; the surrender is an indescribable
phenomenon.
Thus; from beginning to the end; surrender; is not a
planned or a voluntary activity; but the grace of our Guru
or our true (but hitherto inaccessible) self!
Student: In simple words; I should intensify the practice
and promotion of NAMASMARAN;right?
Teacher: Yes. Guru is always there; showering His
bounties!
