A Note From the Harp
Do Not Be Godâs Eclipse
We must toil and work for the Lord
As we do it sheds light on the way
Walking hand in hand with one accord
Others will praise and single out one's name.
We encourage each other and this we must do
We stir up one another to love and good works
It is the result of hard working, of remaining true.
Yet we have a responsibility, yea one we cannot shirk.
Praise may be given but may it not set in
May our left not know the right when a compliment is given
We in turn praise, yea to God be the glory
For our serving hands were raised due to Him.
It was hands and feet nailed that gained the victory
Our holding fast came from Godâs arm of strength.
May we never take the credit when the credit is due to God
May we hold Him up so others are changed by His staff and rod.
Yes let your Christian light so shine before others
So they see you in action with your sisters and brothers
Let the word of God continually fall from our lips
And the light given to all be from His story.
May we never stand in His way like a solar eclipse ;)
As we forever respond, âTo God be the Glory.â
"But let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and
glorify your father who is in heaven" Matt 5:16.

âBEHOLD YOUR GODâ
Elijah was one of the great non-literary
prophets of the Old Testament. He was a man who
showed great courage in standing before wicked
king Ahab commanding him to gather before him the
450 prophets of Baal and the 400 prophets of
Asherah. Though he was putting his own life in dan-
ger, his trust in God led him to propose a contest to
determine who was the true God.
Yet later he became fearful when Jezebel
threatened to kill him as he had killed the prophets of
Baal and Asherah. Elijah had stopped looking at God
and was looking at the threats of Jezebel.
We see the same problem with Peter one of
the 12 apostles. On the occasion that the apostles
were in a boat in the midst of a storm and Jesus
came to them walking on the water, Peter demon-
strated his faith in Jesus when he said, âcommand
me to come to You on the waterâ (Mt. 14:28b).
Peter walked on the water until he took his eyes off
of Jesus and looked at the wind and waves at which
time he became frightened and began to sink. Both
of these men were successful in living for God until
they stopped looking to God.
In Isaiah 36-39 Isaiah foretells the Babylonian
captivity. Beginning in chapter 40 Isaiah offers
comfort and hope. In verse nine he tells the people,
âO Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up
into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that
bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with
strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cit-
ies of Judah, Behold your God!â If Israel was to be
successful in returning from captivity, if the church is
to be successful in our fulfilling the Great Commis-
sion, if we as individual Christians are to succeed in
living our lives faithfully to God, we must keep our
eyes on God! âBehold your God!â We need to see
God as He truly is.
But what does that mean? What is it that we
need to see about God? There are several things
about God that we need to recognize. First we need
to see God as One who has supremacy over nature.
Our God is of supreme power over this world in
which we live. Isaiah went on to tell Israel, âWho
has measured the waters in the hollow of His
hand, measured heaven with a span and calcu-
lated the dust of the earth in a measure?
