2. What is a SIPOC?
A SIPOC is a method for looking at the role of the
stakeholders and the processes that they play a
critical role in whether the process is a success
4. SIPOC Components
Stakeholders – A stakeholder is any entity that influences
the process in any fashion. Stakeholders are both internal
and external in nature.
Understand there is a difference between Stakeholder and
Shareholder. While both involve investment only the
stakeholder goes beyond owning a piece of the organization.
5. SIPOC Components
Inputs – Look back at your list of stakeholders. Which ones
are critical to HR and what do they contribute?
Their contribution is the input
Example: Hiring manager (internal stakeholder) contributes
or their input is the job requisition
6. SIPOC Components
Processes – From the list of inputs consider which steps in
the hiring process those contributions apply to?
Look at your hiring process and see which inputs have a
direct bearing on the process being completed successfully
7. SIPOC Components
Outcomes – Consider the stakeholders and what they bring
to the hiring process. From there consider what the process
is served by the input.
Finally if the input is introduced to the process what is the
result of doing so. These are your outcomes.
8. SIPOC Components
Customers – With the first parts of the SIPOC complete who
benefits from the outputs from the process?

The next slide is a sample of a complete SIPOC with all the
players and actions laid out.
11. Step by Step Process
From the The Lean Six Sigma Pocket Tool Box by Michael George
