3. OVERVIEW AND COMPOSITION
The Jirapa climate Change Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS)
Platform is multi-stakeholder platform with representatives from various
departments, agencies and organizations within the Jirapa municipality.
The platform is hosted by the department of agriculture with the
director of agriculture as its chairman.

5. ACTIVITIES IMPLEMENTED
 Held several platform planning and management meetings before the
general meetings
 Educated five communities in the Jirapa municipality on the causes,
effects and copping strategies.
 Held 4 radio discussion on climate change issues and the Ghana
climate change policy.
 Participated in climate scenarios building workshop for CCAFS
platforms in Lawra.
 Transplanted 1,440 tree seedlings in 4 primary and junior high schools
in Jirapa.
 Participated in the Ghana National CCAFS platform knowledge sharing
program held in Accra.

 Purchased, carted and distributed tree seedlings to schools.
 Demarcated and dug planting holes for transplanting.
 Formulation of community bye-laws on bush fires and economic trees cutting.
 Participated in the Finalization of the Ghana livestock development policy in
Accra.

 Some communities formulated bye-laws awaiting finalization
 Successfully educated five communities in the Jirapa municipality on the
causes, effects and copping strategies.
 Held several platform planning meetings.
 Held 4 radio discussion on climate change issues and the Ghana climate
change policy.
 Participated in climate scenarios building workshop for CCAFS platforms in
Lawra regarding the fortunes of the agricultural sector led by government,
civil society and or the private sector.
 Transplanted 1,440 tree seedlings in 4 primary and junior high schools in
Jirapa.

19. ACHIEVEMENTS CONTINUED
 Participated in the Ghana National CCAFS platform knowledge sharing program held in Accra
 Purchased, carted and distributed tree seedlings to 4 schools in the Jirapa district.

 Held several platform planning and management meetings
 Participated in the Finalization of the Ghana livestock development policy in Accra.

20. CHALLENGES
 Irregular flow of resources from the national platform to the district levels for
implementation of its planned activities.
 No means of transport for the platform secretariat at the district/municipal
level for monitoring of activities and projects.
 No office space for Jirapa CCAFS platform as our old office has been
reassigned to other staff of the department of agriculture.

21. WAY FORWARD
 Regular and timely flow of funds from the national platform to the district
and municipal levels for the implementation of its planned activities.
 Collaborate with like-minded organizations for the realization of the platform
goals and objectives at the district levels.
 The national platform should notify the district platforms to call for proposals
and concepts.

22. CONCLUSION
 The Jirapa platform is grateful to all partners for the funding the previous
years and hope for a better partnership moving forward.
