This presentation is all about the different shapes in bacteria. This can help you in determining shapes that you do in your experiments in Microbiology. Hope this can help. :-)
6. SPHERICAL (COCCI)
Streptococcus
In chains, divide in only plane but does not separate division.
Depending upon the species, the distalends of each pair may
be lancet-shaped or flattened at the adjacent sides to resemble
a coffee bean.
19. HELICOIDAL (SPIRAL)
Types of helicoidal (spiral):
a. Rigid helicoidal species – their long axis remain
rigid when in motion.
a. Spirillum – coiled in several turns. Ex. Spirilum
minus
b. Vibrio – comma-shaped. Ex. Vibrio comma
22. HELICOIDAL (SPIRAL)
Types of helicoidal (spiral):
b. Flexible helicoidal bacteria – spiral organisms
whose long axis bends when in motion.
a. Spirochaetes
