A Sad Week
The government decision to force through the proposed legislation on
abortion in our country is both sad and disappointing The Fine Gael
government overall have shown contempt for some of its members, the
vast majority of people in Ireland and the right of all people to have a
conscience and vote according to it. The advice of many professional
people on suspected suicide was ignored, the voice of those who
marched and the comments of many who took the time and trouble to
write to TD’s. It is a sad week for Ireland, for our moral values and for
the unborn. Our government have failed to protect the unborn and
opened the pathways to the terrible reality of abortion at any stage
from conception to birth. The vast majority of people can only feel
sadness. Jesus showed his respect and concern for all people especially
children. How far as a country have we moved from the true Gospel
values of protecting life and the commandment, “thou shall not kill”.
Let us continue to pray for the unborn child who cries for life, for all
mothers and for the dignity of all human life from conception, right
through to death.
