1. Peer Review Exercise # 5
1. What is the primary idea of the content in the articles?
This article's main idea is “How Do Car Navigation Systems Work?”. So, This article is written about
car navigation system. Also, car navigation capabilities depend on global positioning system. Global
positioning system is abbreviated as GPS. It explains about relation between car navigation system and
GPS in this article.
2. Do you think the individual sections and headings in the document (articles) clearly represent the
idea that was communicated. Explain the reasons behind your comments.
The main idea is “How Do Car Navigation Systems Work?” in this article. First section' s heading is
“Car Navigation Basics”. It explains about car navigation system and how it works in this section.
Second section's heading is “GPS Satellites”. Car Navigation system relates with GPS Satellites. So,
this section is related to first section. The third section is written about GPS system and GPS Satellites
in detail. Final section explains additional information about Car Navigation Systems.
3. What details are included in the articles?
Car Navigation systems depend on a global positioning system (GPS). So, it is necessary to know
about GPS system in order to explain about Car Navigation system. This article is written about GPS
system in detail. GPS receives signals from GPS Satellites for getting information on location of our
car. It needs at least four GPS satellites in order to get information on position of car by GPS system.
GPS satellites send out signals that include information about the time, position and identity of each
satellite to GPS. Thus, we can know information on location of our car.
4. Was there anything that was confusing? If so, what is it?
This article's main heading is “How Do Car Navigation Systems Work?”. But, it is mostly written
explanation about GPS and GPS satellites in this article. I understood that navigation system is related
to GPS system. But, I think that navigation system is related to not only GPS system but another
systems. So, I think it is better to explain about another system in the car navigation system, too.
5. What is good about the writing? Why is it good?
I think good sentence that written about “Calculating Location” in the third section, because it explains
the way to calculate location of car comprehensibly. GPS shows location of the car by calculating
distance between GPS in the car and each GPS satellites in the space. So, it calculate difference
between distance of from GPS to one satellite and from GPS to another satellite. I can understand why
GPS needs four satellites at least by reading this section.
2. Peer Review Exercise # 5
6. Are there any errors that need to be corrected?
This article is written about relation between car navigation system and GPS system. Also, it is written
explanation about GPS satellites in second section. So, this article's main heading maybe title “How Do
Car Navigation Systems Work?”, or rather title explanation about relation between car navigation
systems and GPS system. Also, I think would be better off explaining car navigation systems.
7. What specific suggestions for improving the articles can you make?
I can understood that car navigation systems depend on GPS. Also, I can understood that car navigation
systems are related on distance between GPS in the car navigation and GPS satellites in the space. But,
I can't so much understand that another systems and functions that car navigation systems have. So, I
would write more system and function about car navigation systems.
8. Identify three basic differences between how your group would author a similar document and how
this author authored it (as you see it in the link).
Author who authored this article explains comprehensibly about relation between car navigation and
GPS systems. But he don't so much explains about systems and function that car navigation systems
has. So, I would write more system and function about car navigation systems. For example, car
navigation systems shows route to destination by the shortest distance.
