Dispensationalism refers to God administering his relationship with humanity in different ways, or dispensations, throughout history. There are typically seen as seven dispensations including innocence, conscience, government, promise, law, grace, and kingdom. God deals with humanity in different ways in different eras based on how they obey God's revealed will for that time period. Dispensationalism teaches that God's word should be interpreted literally, distinguishing between Israel and the church, and that God's overall purpose is his own glorification.
