Animation - Injecting Life Into Every Video
1. Animation - Injecting Life Into Every Video
Viewers and online surfers do not want to sit through hordes of text on the Web. With
man becoming more and more busy and attention spans becoming shorter, there is a need
to bring the message across without it eating too much time.
Posting a video online is an effective way to do this. But, again, just watching someone
blab on and on about a topic is not right. If you want to catch attention, then you could
look into animation.
Establish a Goal
The primary step in creating animated videos is to establish a purpose. If you want to
create a training video, then it has to be able to explain in the simplest terms what your
service or product is all about.
To Outsource or Not to Outsource
If you have to outsource the company video, then you could save time and energy, even
money. Search for someone who can create it for you then ask for price quotes from your
choices.
Write a Solid Script
Write a script that is centered on the message that will wow your targeted market. It has
to thrill and inspire, and to accomplish this, the plot must be simple at the same time.
A good script starts strong and is able to hold an audience’s attention without difficulty. It
must also have a sane structure one that has a relevant beginning, middle and an end.
Flash backs and forwards can be done, so this doesn’t mean that you have to follow the
structure from beginning to end all of the time.
A script must have an overall story or goal and you must have a reason for sharing the
story. Keep in mind that a single script page only lasts for one minute onscreen. A
practical premise needs to be laid out, it must be believable and logical. Though people
know that toys don’t talk, they can take a scene where toys behave in a human-like
manner.
2. Support the Theme with Storyboards and Artwork
As soon as you have nailed down the script, the next decision that you have to make is
what artwork will be used. Storyboards may not be essential for some producers but for
someone who is serious in making a video with sense, then this is more than just a
collection of rough sketches.
The final animation differs from one client to the next. There are times when the deadline
is tight that you could decide to skip on your storyboard. Know, though, that the
storyboard is there in the first place to save you time and effort. Jumping from script to
direct animation is a bit too risky.
Add Appropriate Narration and Extras
Narrative is the next step. Go for a professional voiceover as much as possible. Give the
script to your voiceover talent, if possible, days ahead of the shoot. After this, put all the
elements - the artwork, audio, collated photos, edited animation, the script – together and
fuse them to produce that animated video that will captivate its projected market.
