2. Something that sparked my interest in the video was a quote…

3. “ We have learned to ‘play school.’ We study the right facts the night before the test so we achieve a passing grade and thus become a successful student.”

4. This quote can apply to many students I know…including myself

5. All of these students are honors students.

6. And the only goal we have is to get into a good college.

7. A college of our choice

8. A good college leads to a good job.

9. And a good job leads to a good life.

10. And in order to do this, we have to get good grades in high school to get into a good college

11. So by the transitive property, we must get good grades now to have a good life later.

12. Our lives are, of course, too busy to spend hours studying

13. Because we’re too busy doing other important things we need to get into college (sports, clubs, etc.)

14. So we need to spend the minimum time to get the maximum gain

15. This is where our short term memory comes into use!

16. We quickly memorize what we need to know…

17. And then forget it the instant after we have completed the task.

18. We do this because school doesn’t care if we learn,

19. And all we care about is getting good grades.

20. Should we be learning?

21. Should we put less emphasis on our grades?

22. Because clearly, our grades don’t represent what we know

23. But actually represent all that we could memorize in the time we had the night before

24. Should this trend change ?
