It’s a neurodegenerative disease.

progressive loss of memory and
other mental abilities, as neurons
die and different areas of the
brain atrophy.
It’s incurable and terminal.
It usually takes about ten years
after diagnosis.
It appears frequently in people
over 65 years.

Less than 3% of patients live more than
14 year after diagnosis.
In 1901 the German psychiatrist Alois
Alzheimer identified the first
Alzheimer’s disease in a fifty years’
woman.
The researcher followed up his patient
until her death in 1906 when he reported
the case publicly.
