2. Personal Statement My name is Andrea Thone. I am currently a student at Argosy University working towards my Bachelors degree in Psychology. My professional endeavors have given me experience in a wide variety of psychological aspects. I have gained much experience with child psychological development and behavior while working at a day care center for two years. I have also gained experience with the physiological and psychological issues while working at a nursing home for fifteen years. During this employment I was able to have personal experiences dealing with elderly behaviors, dementia, and grieving.
3. Resume Objectives Obtain a career in the counseling and psychology field. A responsible position that include challenges, diversity, and the opportunity for professional advancement. Education Bachelors Degree in psychology obtained at Argosy University (2011) Associates Degree in liberal arts and sciences obtained at Inver Hills Community College (2008) High School Diploma obtained at Simley Senior High School  Experience Nutrition Services Aid (08/1997 â 01/2011) Cerenity Care Center (710 19th Ave N So. St. Paul MN) The responsibilities of this position consisted of preparing and serving meals to elderly tenants in the nursing home and assisted living. The duties required but where not limited to assisting in the preparation of hot and cold meals, dishing and serving meals, delivering meals to tenants, maintaining a healthy and safe kitchen workplace, and cleaning duties.  Teaching Assistant (2003 â 2005) Especially for Children (6125 Cahill Ave I.G.H MN)  The responsibilities of this position consisted of assisting the teacher in the classroom for preschool children. The duties required but where not limited to supervising young children, preparing activities, assisting in teaching basic number and letter memorization and social skills and development. Skills The combination of both job positions that I have held and my education has provided me with a great amount of skills. I have obtained much experience with elderly individuals as well as their families. I have worked close with individuals who suffer from dementia, mental illness and physical pain and restrictions as well as grieving over loss of abilities and life. Work at the child care center provided me with skills in child development. I was able to work closely with preschool children and help them advance their school knowledge with counting, reading and writing. I also helped them develop better physical skills with tying shoes, cutting paper, and making art projects. Working with children gave me the opportunity understand individual needs such as communication skills, emotional expression, and other developmental skills. I have gained many different skills and experience with communicating techniques with different individuals, effectively handling confrontational situations, expressing empathy and patience with individuals, and actively listening to the needs of individuals to better help their needs just to name a few. 4. Reflection The experiences at Argosy University have given me the tools to move forward through the education I have received there. I have learned to use the tools of scientific methods, access information from a variety of acceptable sources, effectively present psychological concepts both orally and written, identify and appropriately deal with the challenges related to diversity and ethics, and to recognize and apply psychological concepts and theories to pertaining issues.

When presenting (in written work or orally), assesses a given topic from multiple perspectivesand evaluates merit of each perspective.
