8. Key LMI Facts and Figures
Total workforce demand is expected to grow from ~88,000 in 2017 to
~101,000 in 2021
Average “inflow” is ~7,000 FTEs per annum
22% of the workforce is female (28% in civil, 12% in defence)
81% generic skills, 18% nuclear skills, 1% subject matter experts
3,300 trainees total in SLCs and Defence Enterprise (16% graduate
trainees)
At peak demand on Civils Construction, over 4,000 workers will be
required on each nuclear new build site
Manufacturing workforce is expected to rise from around 4,000 in 2014
to 8,500 at the peak of onsite activity in 2025
