Piping layout/ Subsea
1. V Piping layout
• Subsea marine operations
• Umbilicals and cables installation
• Tie-in operations
• Layout (location of piping equipment)
2. Piping
Within industry, piping is a system of pipes used to convey fluids
(liquids and gases) from one location to another. The engineering
discipline of piping design studies the efficient transport of fluid.[
3. Subsea
Subsea is a general term frequently used to refer to
equipment, technology, and methods employed in marine
biology, undersea geology, offshore oil and gas
developments, underwater mining, and offshore wind power
industries.
5. Umbilical
Subsea umbilicals are deployed on the seabeds (ocean floors) to
supply necessary control and chemicals to subsea oil and gas wells,
subsea manifolds and any subsea system requiring a remote
control, such as a remotely operated vehicle.
6. Tie in operations
Oil, gas and water injection wells may be operated through a subsea
structure. The X-mas tree and e.g. template manifold will typically
be controlled hydraulically and electrically through a flexible
umbilical from the platform or FPSO. The oil or gas product will be
brought through a flexible or rigid pipeline; where the latter requires
a dedicated spool for connecting between a pipeline end manifold
(PLEM) and a template structure pipeline inboard hub. At the end of
each line is the termination head. The operations to connect these
termination heads are called tie-ins and are normally diverless.
