1. Soap Opera Preliminary Task

Watch an episode of any soap opera and find one scene and
storyline that is appropriate to be acted out in college by your
group.
One you have found the scene make a detailed script containing:
• Name of soap, date of transmission and timings of the scene in the episode so you can find it.
• Transcribed dialogue
• Stage directions
• Locations used in the soap: think of possible locations in college you could use- canteen, couches on corridors,
Camera angles, shot types, movement, lighting, time of day of scene
careers centre, courtyards, staff room, teaching kitchen...

• Props and costume requirements: the soap you have chosen will affect costume, make up, settings etc.
Once you have your script, storyboard it shot for shot using screengrabs e.g.
SCENE: INTERIOR, OLD FASHIONED HOTEL ROOM, NO
NATURAL LIGHT
OTS, Depth of field- all characters in focus. Dark room,
light is coming from behind camera, blue filter. Many
shadows.
