4. Check your e-mail. All course communications, including the welcome message containing access instructions, will be sent to your scsu.edu account before classes begin. Check it regularly to stay in the loop.
5. Contact your instructor. Although most instructors will send a welcome message to your scsu.edu e-mail account, be proactive: make first contact before classes begin on January 11. Students who don’t make contact within the first week and a half may be dropped. Help Link | S2010 Hybrid/Online English & Spanish Instructors
6. Buy your book now. Books are in the University Bookstore (Crawford-Zimmerman) or can be purchased online at retailers like Amazon. Check your syllabus or talk with your professor for specifics. Help Link| University Bookstore
7. Get computer and internet access. Web-enhanced, hybrid (online and classroom), and fully online classes require regular access to a computer and the internet. If you don’t have access, take a face-to-face class.
8. Give your computer a tune-up. Download the latest versions of Windows Media Player, Adobe Reader, PowerPoint Viewer, Adobe Flash, and a Microsoft Word-compatible word processing program. Visit the plug-in gallery or look online for common free programs. Use anti-virus software to protect your computer, and download at your own risk.
9. You are ready. Log on. Go to http://scsu.blackboard.com on January 12, 2009 to begin your course, or talk to your professor if you need additional assistance.
