- 1. Potato production in Bangladesh • Tuber to Tuber • Can be cultivated through true potato seed (TPS)
- 3. Potato (Tuber to tuber) • Soil and Climate: • High, flood free and well drained Sandy loam to loamy soil is needed. Well preserved moisture is needed • Cultivars: • Cardinal- Northern part • Diamont- Dhaka region • Kufri Sundari (Early), Heera, Multa • Asterix • Local cultivars:
- 4. • Life span: 80-100 days • Sowing of seed tuber: • Early: 15 September 15 October • Optimum: 15 October to 15 November • Late: up to November • For early, Farmers may get low yield but price would be fair. Two times cultivation can be done.
- 5. • Seed Rate: 1400-2000kg/ha • Seed size and weight: 30-45cm long and 20-40gm of each Sowing/planting Seed selection Select potato with at least two eyes. After every cut rinse knife with dettol or savlon water.

- 10. • Earthing up: • At the height of 10-15cm plants earthing up should be done. (3-4 weeks of planting). avoid wet soil. • Weeding: Up to 60 days keep field weeds free.
- 11. Plant Protection: • Follow IPM • Major pest: • Aphid-sucking, - Azodrin, Nuvacron, Monodrin 40EC • Cutworm- Darsban- 20EC • Beetles-Diazinon 50EC • Diseases: • Blight-Early and late, havoc in cloudy and wet conditions • Symptoms: Deep brown lesions, Dithane M-45
- 12. • Harvesting: • When leaves turn yellow and dry up, then harvesting should be done. Keep tubers in shaded place for 2-3 hours. • Yield: • 15-45 t/ha
