   The song is probably of Victorian origin and refers to the experiences
   and anticipation of the fair and all its attractions coming to town.

 Lempo itte mettään mennee                             Lempo himself is going to the forest
 Rupi rapi rupi rapi - ruajana tullee                  Rupi rapi he comes creeping
 Rupi rapi rupi rapi - ruajana tullee                  Rupi rapi he comes creeping

 Lempon koira is an ancient Finnish ‘Kalevala’ metrical chant. There are many onomatopoeic
 uses in the song. This traditional way of singing has changed in the last two centuries. It is still
 a living tradition in lullabies, and songs for children's games. It was sung around the Tampere
 Region of Finland.

There are many onomatopoeic uses in the song. This traditional way of singing has changed in the last two centuries. It is still a living tradition in lullabies, and songs for children's games. It was sung around the Tampere Region of Finland.
