Wisconsin Clean Cities 2
Introduce yourselfToday I will tell you about several tools and resources available to you through the Department of Energy’s Clean Cities program. All these tools are available online at afdc.energy.gov/tools.These tools are meant to help public and private fleets and general public better understand and use alternative fuels and advanced technology vehicles
(If have handout) Pictured is a sample of the handout you should have among your materials. It can also be accessed and printed online through the Clean Cities website.
These websites provide comprehensive information on the Clean Cities program and its portfolio of technologies. The Clean Cities website contains information about the program, including its accomplishments, partnerships, and the local coalitions. The Alternative Fuels and Advanced Vehicles Data Center (AFDC) website houses an extensive collection of information, data, and tools related to all the technologies and fuels in the Clean Cities portfolio. FuelEconomy.gov is a partnership between the U.S. EPA and Department of Energy. It is the official U.S. government source for fuel economy information.
The alternative fueling station locator is great for anyone that does not have their own centralized refueling station. It allows you to select the type of fuel you need by city or zip code. You can also specify the radius of the search area, as well as access advanced options such as owner type and payment options.TransAtlas is an interactive map that displays stations locations, vehicle densities, and biofuels production facilities. This tool is great for researching and comparing stations and vehicle densities. The stations custom query is a database you can search for a list of stations for a particular fuel in your state. The total stations count allows you to find the number of fueling stations in the United States or for individual states by fuel type. The fuel properties search allows you to create custom charts comparing fuel properties and characteristics for multiple alternative fuels. The biofuels atlas is an interactive map that shows the locations of feedstock production, biofuels plants, biopower plants, fueling stations, and more.
The light-duty and heavy-duty vehicle searches allow you to find and compare alternative fuel vehicles, electric vehicles, and hybrids. You have the option to search by fuel type, manufacturer, class, and model year. The vehicle cost calculator shows the total cost of ownership and emissions for most vehicle models. You enter basic information about your driving habits and it will display a graph and chart of the total cost, estimated amount of fuel used, and emissions. You can also compare as many vehicles as you would like.
Find a car is similar to the light-duty and heavy-duty vehicle searches, only it compares more aspects of the vehicles, including fuel efficiency, annual fuel costs, carbon footprints, air pollution scores, and more for vehicle models dating back to 1984.The truck stop electrification locator allows drivers to obtain addresses, maps, and driving directions for truck stops offering electrification sites, which reduce the need for idling. These sites allow drivers to use onboard anti-idling equipment, which greatly improves a vehicle’s efficiency and reduces emissions.
The petroleum reduction planning tool allows fleets to create their own strategies for petroleum-use reduction. It allows you to set an annual petroleum-use reduction goal and includes the entire Clean Cities portfolio of fuels and technologies to help you meet these goals. It can be used to guide future fleet purchases and strategies. Most importantly, it allows you to create multiple scenarios to discover which strategies will work best based upon your fleet data and future plans. The GREET fleet footprint calculator is another planning tool that allows you to calculate your fleet’s petroleum use and greenhouse gas emissions footprint, and estimate the impacts of future vehicle purchases. The fleet experiences search is a database of stories highlighting the successes of fleets across the nation that use alternative fuels.
The Incentives and Laws Search is a searchable database of federal and state incentives and laws related to alternative fuels and vehicles, air quality, fuel efficiency, and other transportation topics. This is a great way to browse all that is available to you and how to access these opportunities, both federal and state. The publications search is a great resource if you are researching a topic and would like to know the basics. It is also a way to find publications to download and print about the various alternative fuels, vehicles, efficiency, and more. The related links search generates a list of alternative fuel and advanced vehicle websites by category. This is another great tool for researching specific topics. The state information search is a way to obtain state-specific information about alternative fuels and advanced vehicles, including laws, incentives, fueling station locations, and Clean Cities locations. The coalition location map outlines all the Clean Cities coalitions by location across the U.S. It lists all the coordinator contact information.
cleancities.energy.gov/mThis website was specifically created for mobile use. It can be used with any smartphone. You can locate alternative fueling stations, look up MPG and carbon footprint information, compare fuel cost and emissions, and find truck stop electrification sites. It also allows you to access all the other pages on the Clean Cities website in a form more easily used on your phone.
Please let me know if you need more information about anything I discussed here today.Thank you and I invite any questions.
