These interviews / discussions are a great opportunity to get real examples of how your users work: How they work (and the work context) - might be specific to a type of role - eg Call Centre, Sales staff etc (provide a real example). What do they do on a daily basis? Key tasks they are trying to complete What matters most to them and what are the challenges they face specific to the role… What stops them achieving outcomes. Useful when thinking about about your designs and particularly when testing your designs Don’t hesitate to ask why or how!! Check in and ask why, or how come… explore concepts or statements that your user make - especially when they are talking about their problems / frustrations
  2. Things you can find out about: do they read the news (probably not) - “some” which bits are they interested in which systems they use (and how they find them to use) - could there be better integration, could you design a nice form that would eliminate the need for them to actually have to access that ugly back end system? if they are new starters and have worked in other organisations, what did they like about their old intranet?
  3. This will help ensure the success of your intranet and make you a star!!
