3. According to your experience, what kind of existing actions/initiatives in Africa are successful in
alleviating these obstacles? Is it possible to scale up these initiatives and how?
4. What other actions would you suggest

Research/studies has to take into account all cultural, social and economic aspects
in the context of african Countries
Knowledge transfer research to farmers and vice versa
โ โInclusive researchโ (indigenous knowledge)
Researchers and farmers learning from each other and buidling on identified needs
and already existing practices
1.2. In terms of policies to promote
and develop
Introduce soil health and carbon sequestration in all
relevant policies (FS, agriculture, development,
education)

If we want address Soild Health and carbon sequestration, it has to be integrated in
all relevant policies including development, education, agriculture โฆ

policies on Soil

sequestration

Biodiversity
Many African Countries do not have policy on Food Security and Carbon
sequestration.
Insure that subsidies/incentives encourage healthy
soils and carbon sequestration
Focusing on projects with positive impacts and promote good practices
1.3. In terms of development
projects
Ensure that development projects/policies are
inclusive + holistic approach (develop
guidance/document/ framework)

Participative projects development approach: involve all stakeholders from the
beginning (design and definition of the project) and ensure that the Project covers
the all value chain (from farming to market access)
Facilitate innovative funding mechanisms
Make funding more accessible and avialable for people on the ground, especially
small organizations (small scale farmers)
Make an inventory of successful practices/projects +
