In an era where we can still find pirates, monarchies, polygamy, RACISM and hunger
mankind continues exploring its limits; from an eventual landing in Mars
to the fertilization of three-parent babies.
!
Between the remains of the past and the fiction becoming reality, there is us.
!
The Internet has accelerated our evolution.
This digital ecosystem boosts the physical mobility.
it stimulates our age, health, wealth, entertainment and the everyday interaction we all have.
However, as a public space, THE INTERNET needs to be safe to be enjoyed by everyone.
!
The new manifestations of our future will make us re-understand the meaning of all
what we know, including the concept of being human.

We live in that moment where there is no turning back.

Being a Millennial is not a meaning of youth anymore. Being 50 is not a synonym of being old.
As we grow closer to the year 2020, we all seeing the evidence of the passage of time. The arrival of this futuristic time
brings a shift in all what we know about stages of life: Baby Boomers are extending their retirement, GenXers are
turning 50, Millennials are either consulting blogs to be a better parent or extending their teenager days, while GenZ is
eager to start working because the world they live in asks them to mature faster.
!
By 2060, the world pyramid population will evolve into a world dome population; The percentage of babies being born is
decreasing while global life expectancy stands at 72 years, (increased by 6 years since 2001).
With an extended window of lifetime, people will have more opportunity to have a paradigm shift towards aging.
!
We will encounter more services to decelerate aging through living an enriched life, and there will be more spaces to
grow personal talents for seniors. We will see a higher level of energetic grownups. In a context where stories are
prized, experience will become an element of pride.

Just as dogs stop being pets and become another member of the family, robots will earn a
space in our lives.
!
Tech companies are bringing together a puzzle of their interpretation of what it means to be a human: Artificial
intelligence, cognitive computing, emotion recognition, instant reactions, walking with balance, talking warmly,
self-driving, deciding; machines are evolving from being a productive tool to become a caring being.
Robots are beginning to understand complex concepts like competition, protection, trust, and joy.
!
Research specialist at the MIT Media LAB and robot ethics expert Dr. Kate Darling affirms in her publication “Who’s
Johnny”: “People have a tendency to project life-like qualities onto robot. Framing robots through anthropomorphic
language can impact on how people perceive and treat a robot”.
!
Artificial intelligence will be programmed with real human emotions, and in return humans will develop empathy and
honor towards the identity of the machine. Soon we will argue for the “human” rights of a robot.
We will feel for them what they will never feel for us.

Children inspired by technology and science.
For the first time in history, Artificial Intelligence and programming are coexisting with kids.
!
Preschool coding classes are on the rise in China, while in England, Japan and Israel computer science is now a
mandatory subject for students from 5 to 16 years old. In USA Obama launched Computer Science For All -a program
to give every student the opportunity to learn computer science and computational thinking skills; parents in India are
eager to register their children to a coding club and in Mexico public schools launched a pilot plan to teach children
create robots.
Parents have a feeling they could have the next Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerberg at home and there is an industry
growing around that dream. Scratch -developed by the MIT- is a pioneer who has created a legacy in spreading coding
knowledge and inspiring organizations to follow their mission; it makes computer programming approachable for kids
by inviting them to connect blocks of codes to build programs. These kids are being prepared for a competitive world
where most of the jobs they perform will be digitalized.
!
Science is becoming easier to absorb. Toys are evolving from being an entertainment object to an educative tool.
Software will own a big part of the infant episodes and that will shift the meaning of privacy in early childhood.
These new kids will solve big world problems with their enhanced imaginations and that will matter to them
because they will be alive in the XXII century.

PLEASANT PRODUCTIVITY
Following a purpose of life through enjoyable jobs.
Companies are searching top-notch candidates.
Top-notch candidates are searching to find themselves.
!
Nowadays there is a pursuit of fulfillment at work, which brings a rise of expectations and frustrations. According to a
Gallup poll, two out of three working Americans don’t feel engaged in their jobs. The good news is that their current
position might disappear since experts predict that 50 percent of occupations today will no longer exist by 2025.
Independence is a growing option- a recent study of Freelancers Union shows that there are 55 million people in the
U.S. doing freelance work, which represents 35% of the total workforce; together they contributed $1 trillion dollars to
the economy in 2016.
!
College students are absorbing life-time debts for skills that will expire soon. They have arrived to the job market in a
moment of disruptive transformation within every industry and this situation demands a constant update of skills, just
as their smart phones do. Learning fast is key, but unlearning faster is crucial.
!
The constant adaptation is also required to recruiters; today a sort of Gamification is happening to find the ideal
candidate for a company, however talented people experience a battle between having free time and earning a juicy
paycheck. Here is where the utopia becomes reality through the birth of digital nomads - those who can be

ENERG-ETHICS
The type of source you use might reveal your values.
!
85% of the global energy consumed comes from burning fossil fuels, which releases high amounts of CO2 and
contributes to global warming. According to an EXXON mobile future of energy report, by 2040 the consumption of
fossil fuels will decrease to 80%. Since most part of current infrastructure is designed to consume oil, it will remain as
the primary energy source for a long time. We will not become entirely sustainable soon, but urgency will spark
affordable innovations.
!
As history has shown, countries that extract oil tend to be surrounded by corruption or conflicts; oil detonates wars.
The traditional way to produce energy is centralized; few enjoy the benefits, while the sun and the wind are more
democratic. If we analyze the term “clean energy” it’s not just about using renewable sources, it has an inner
component about good behaviors towards Mother Nature.
!
According to the Advanced Energy report, the U.S. clean energy was valued at $200 billion in 2016 and $1.35 trillion
globally. Infrastructure is key; the smaller the country the bigger the change. While wind power represents only 5% of
all energy consumed in the U.S., in Denmark that rate is 42%. Smaller countries, such as Costa Rica are reliant 100%
on renewable energy. We will start valorizing locations for their contribution to the power plants with their natural
resources: wind, solar, or hydropower. However, China is planning to mine the moon to bring Helium-3,
a substance that can provide energy, to mankind for the next 10,000 years. Ethics will divide opinions.

PERF-SONALIZATION
The extreme obsession of perfect customization.
Adapting a mass-produced product to yourself is different than customizing your own unique
creation.
The industrial revolution in the 18th century was about producing everything for everyone. Prior to this stage,
manufacturing was often done in people’s homes by using hand tools or basic machines. That old sense of
craftsmanship and detail is back once again in the 21st century. In the era of selfies, VR, predictive algorithms,
suggestions based on previous purchases, face recognition, and 3D scanning it is very likely for a brand to please its
customers. However, it requires dedication.
!
Based on McKinsey, personalization can deliver five to eight times the ROI on marketing costs and lift sales 20% or
more. Infosys affirms that 86% of consumers have said that personalization plays a role in their purchasing decisions.
People want to have a unique creation inspired by them. Today anyone can be a their own brand muse.

The expectations of instant delivery and on-demand entertainment have raised the bar in the healthcare world.
Medical patients will demand in the same way regular consumers do: convenience, fast and enjoyable consultations,
but also smart treatments. Doctors will have more practical follow-up consultations through their smartphones and
more data to understand a condition, however they must be ready to confront more prepared and overcritical patients.
!
The American Telemedicine Association estimates almost 20 million patients received some kind of medical care
remotely in 2016, and according to the IMS Institute for Healthcare informatics there are more than 165,000 mobile
health apps on the market. Through smartphones the medicine industry is required to accelerate its processes.

There is a special emotion when your Lyft is arriving, when your seamless bag is knocking at your door, when Amazon

already know what is inside. All the infrastructure and connected satellites provide us with a magical experience, all
coming down to the need to feel special, to feel treated well by the company you paid. However, love can turn into
mistrust or even hate if promises are not accomplished.
!
Companies are aiming to be part of the Industry 4.0- automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies.
According to PWC $907 billion in investments are expected until 2020 to update the process of production and logistics,
because today 67% of companies don’t feel they have achieved advanced levels of digitalization.
!
Love is invisible, but you can feel it. And the same is for logistics; there are many process that are invisible but we
benefit from them. Categories are joining in marriage to provide us the things we love and need. DHL understands
fashion is the definition of a fast moving industry. Fedex supports healthcare by providing patients instant delivery of

NEW MONEY INTERACTIONS
RADICAL MONEY
The fast mobility of funds and its democratization.
Wealth has evolved from solid to intangible, from gold to electricity, from exclusive to social.
!
Half of a decade after the movement occupy Wall Street, investor mistrust still plagues financial institutions.
The interest to redistribute wealth in a fair way and the need of getting rid of bureaucracy has embraced a new
generation of decentralized apps -many of them from Silicon Valley- taking place in the finance world, giving
consumers the power to take control as experts and making money transfers as easy as a social media post.
!
Crypto-currencies have created a democratic model of financial movements in the digital world, where individuals can
trade with no need of a bank. Bitcoin, the first and most honored crypto-currency, is starting to be accepted in
companies like Paypal, Amazon, WordPress, and Subway. However, new crypto-currencies and other electronic ways of
payment are being created every day.
!
Just as social media impacted traditional media, the new concept of money will bring creativity and new celebrities in
the fintech world. Of course there will be resistance coming from the traditional bankers, but the infrastructure of cash
as we know it has already start its evolution. How we earn, save, spend, lend, distribute and protect money is changing.
Wall Street is not the only route for financial traffic anymore.

The risk of intimacy assault.
If you haven’t been hacked maybe is because you haven’t been targeted.
CNN Tech reports that in 2014 half of American adults had their personal information exposed by hackers. In 2015 more
than 750 breaches were reported, exposing 178 million personal records. Hacks had a substantial hike of 40% in 2016,
according to the Identity Theft Resource Center. In addition to this, there are approximately 83 million fake profiles in
Facebook.
!
The intimate pictures of multiple celebrities have been seen publicly; Mark Zuckerberg was hacked 3 times last year.
The New York Times reported: “President Obama announced sanctions against Russia for trying to influence the 2016
election through cyber attacks.” Angela Merkel’s phone was intervened and German diplomats’ fingerprints where
hacked through using a high-resolution camera and a 3D printer- the hacker had created a replica of their hands.
!
Who is safe in this context? This sense of vulnerability will generate new businesses. In 2015, the cyber security market
reached $75 billion and is expected to grow to $170 billion by 2020, according to Forbes. We will see more media
campaigns educating people about the best practices to keep their information secure; however, there will also be
financial institutions that will use social media to take a look to consumers’ information to determine whether or not
they are candidates for a credit or what terms should insurance consider -“Is our client going to bars too much?”
!
In a connected world where no one can guarantee avoiding a cyber attack, the most powerful tool
to be safe will be a piece of paper.

Publishers name AdBlocking as extortion, but developers call it a consumer right.
It’s never been a better moment to work in advertising and it’s never been a worse moment to work in advertising.
According to Page Fair, one in five people are using Adblocking in their smartphones worldwide and this preference is
growing 30% annually. Consumers are embracing this type of software not only because online advertising makes their
videos run slower, distract them and waist their time, but also because it makes them trackable and that affects their
privacy.
!
Advertisers spend $600 billion in media worldwide, while content marketing is expected to be valued in $300 billion by
2019; this means we will see more brands inspiring sparkling stories and shows. However, there are more threats to
advertising. The talent is migrating to tech industries and there is a constant birth of apps that substitute the ad agency
services in a cheaper and faster way- crowdsourcing systems.
!
Speakeasies were born in the 1920’s, creating a new way for New Yorkers to connect in an intimate and un-trackable
way. The rebirth of intimate conversation and small communities sharing content will once again spark within the
industry, reminding us that consumers want to stay un-trackable. There will be a reconfiguration of business models,

Thanks to live streaming apps today any individual can become a mobile TV channel. Brands and TV networks try hard

Everybody at Once Kenyatta Cheese says, “Your audience has an audience.” This means you need to remember that
your target has a reputation uphold, and people waiting for them to share or generate great content.

The global video streaming market worth was USD $30 billion in 2016 and is expected to grow to $70 billion by 2021,
based on MarketandMarkets research. One of the most important players in this category, Periscope, reports that their
users have created 200 million broadcasts and over 110 years worth of video are watched in a single day. More gadgets

Based on a research conducted by the Center for Culinary Development Millennials define themselves as foodies. 44%
of Millennials have posted a photo of food or drinks on social media; 52% would rather go to a food festival than a
music festival; and 61% would rather have dinner at a new restaurant than buy a new pair of shoes.
!
Food has become an artistic style- it is less seen just as a functional provider of nutritional properties and is more
received as an element of beautiful expression and connection. The beauty of cooking is found in participating in the
preparation of our food and the consciousness of the impact has on earth. Our sight is concentrated on our plates, but
it will also be in the process of production of what we eat; we will be more interested and surprised by the miracle of
food creation.
!
Technology will play a special role in our meals, ranging from molecular cuisine to digital farming. In the words of Caleb
Harper, principal investigator of Open Agriculture a food computing project of the MIT, “In the future, even broccoli will

IMPERFECTION IS BEAUTY
The rethink of aesthetics through an enjoyable self-acceptance.
A strong ideal is more powerful than a firm butt.
Authorities in France launched a bill that prohibits fashion models from being “excessively thin”. Models will need a
doctor’s certificate that proves their health is “compatible with the practice of profession”. This initiative is driven by
understanding the influence on society and the cost of health in the fashion industry. According to the BBC, anorexia
affects between 30,000 and 40,000 people in France, 90% of which are women. A “perfect body” will now be a healthy
one.
!
In a context where sustainability is a required act, beauty can no longer continue as unhealthy and superficial. The
massive consumption of traditional media cultivated a stereotype of esthetics that was almost impossible to
accomplish. Social media has provided the audience an opportunity to appreciate personalities, speeches,
perspectives and other kinds of beauty that seem to celebrate other attributes; physical imperfections can bring
poignant stories.
!
We will see more diversity, self-esteem advocates, celebration of imperfections and leaders promoting a social change.
According to Business Insider, GenZ -today’s teenagers- are admiring icons as Malala and rejecting figures like the
Kardashians. Abercrombie & Fitch, a brand who’s communication is based on ideal models, has closed 252 stores

FEMALE RENAISSANCE
The bloom of femininity in the modern age.
Struggling, fighting, evolving, dominating and shinning at the same time.
!
In the history of art, after The Dark Ages, comes The Renaissance. You see a similar pattern in females’ situation today.
Women still fight -for their rights, gender gap, harassment- but they are winning territory and they are demonstrating
strength. Multiple expressions of femininity are about to come. That massive force destabilizes the male role, which is
redefining its position in society. Nowadays both roles are more balanced, thanks to the advance and evolution of
Boomers, GenX and Millennials. Women are supporting households; more men are becoming stay-at-home dads.
!
Females are more focused on their careers, postponing or dismissing marriage. Based on the National Center of Health
Statistics, the 70’s and mid 80’s highlighted the biggest percentage of divorce. The decades following showed a
decrease in marriages. Women have more time and feel empowered to earn their place. According to the UN, less than
4% of CEOs in the world’s largest 500 corporations are female. However, over the past 20 years there is a 68% of
increase in woman launching startups, two times the growth rate of men launching startups.
!
The female contribution to “man”kind made a positive shift in diverse areas. However, there are more battles to win.
When it comes to films, female roles have evolved from being pictured as the one who needs to be saved to the one
who saves. Yet, the females playing these roles are still being underpaid when compared to their male counterparts.
!
Whether is art or science, technology or business, sports or politics, women are becoming the face of a new era.

THIRST OF HUMANITY
The deep need to believe in mankind again.
Goosebumps as a new currency.
Political disappointment, terrorist attacks, drug cartels, civil wars, racism, refugee crisis, police shootings, capitalism
inequality, homophobia, disrespect to cultural diversity, global warming, sea pollution, 43 missing Mexican students,
Harambe the gorilla, celebrities dying before expected, takeover of technology; the collective mood has been hurt
recently. In a connected world, it is easier to distribute situations of injustice, but also to distribute positive content,
ideas, and love.
!
There is a need of local heroes to do good; people who stay true to their beliefs and make rebel acts of kindness.
Leaders who will spark joy and hope. People who help minorities and inspire masses. Men and women who stand for
honesty, peace and generosity. Individuals who ignite pride and make transparency contagious. In the The World
Happiness Report, Director of the Well-Being Program, Richard Layard affirms, “we urgently need organizations which
promote ethical living in a way that provides inspiration, uplift, joy and mutual support”.
!
Brands who break barriers and bring people together will be appreciated; every time they share a positive philosophy of
life, they defend transparent ideals, human rights or give solutions for the planet’s health. In a world where robots are
taking relevance, mistakes are welcome, spontaneity is valued and cultural interaction will make us more human.
