To enable innovation in a large and dispersed organization, there is a need for a shared digital platform with simple, social, mobile, smart and situation-aware services that allow people - employees, partners and customers - to get inspired, openly share ideas, and collaborate to implement the best ideas - big or small.

Presented at Interaction Intranet conference. London September 2015. Sam Marshall ClearBox Consulting. Digital Workplaces should be driven by an employee-centred view. In Part 1 of our Heroâs Journey, you learned how todayâs organisations are preparing for the digital future...by choosing technologies, mapping change, and getting their teams ready. In Part 2, you rode shotgun as our hero hit the road - forging alliances and partnerships with interested parties along the way. Now itâs time for the third act. As with the conclusion of any great story, ours concludes with our hero reaching his goals and returning home - changed. Not to continue his or her old life...but to start a new one. Because, the journey to the digital workplace isnât a voyage of geography, itâs a voyage of transformation and adoption. And itâs a journey that has more in common with the Greek myths than your daily commute. Your digital transformation is a narrative of big ideas, strategic planning, and decisive actions that will bring real change. And just as the classical stories gave rise to new organising principles - collaboration across cultures, shared stakes in a joint enterprise, democratic decision making - the improvements of digital transformation are more than incremental. Theyâre a paradigm shift. To learn how itâs done, letâs embark on the last leg of our heroâs journey⊠and learn not just the way digital technology transforms our workplaces and drives user adoption, but how we can make the best of those transformations and maximise on this adoption.

The digital workplace is not a dream destination but a reality. Connecting up your people and technology - on a single, intuitive collaboration platform brings benefits which can be felt right across the entire organisation. But reaching that nirvana isnât an on-off switch; itâs a journey. And the next step on our heroâs journey towards that digital workplace is to get walking. In Part 1, you saw our hero making plans. They stopped thinking of âdigitalâ as an end in itself but as part of the overall vision. The vision of the digital workplace as a dynamic organisation where people, process and technology work together to help organisations join up to face clients, to react to market conditions quickly and to stay a step ahead of the competition. Organisations that have a clear vision (one that starts at the top!) will have a greater chance of success. Our hero had a call to action - a compelling event - to kick start their journey and draw out the map of today and the destination of tomorrow. Then, armed with goals and plans our hero set out to find their allies. The second in a three-part series In this episode - Part 2 - our hero starts travelling forward, with a spring in his step and a song in his heart. (Or at least a mandate and budget.) Travelling at our heroâs side, are guides. Guides can help you navigate the pitfalls - they've been there before. Finally, we conclude with the all important launch - with our hero at mission control making sure that all is successful. All ready for Part 3, where youâll see how real business value comes not just from technology, but its adoption and the integration into business processes. Taking your organisation on a successful journey to a digital workplace requires change - are you ready! Letâs join our hero as he looks around for helpful guides on his digital road.

The first in a series of 3 guidebooks outlining how to start your journey towards a digital workplace. All stories have a beginning, a middle, and an end. And itâs no different for business stories, like your journey towards the digital workplace and its epic conclusion of connected collaboration for all. The digital workplace means more than âgoing digitalâ. Itâs a complete transformation of how your organisation interacts... both internally and with the outside world. Itâs about faster, better, information flows which lead to quicker, more informed decision making.

We often talk about the future of Service Design. What will AI bring to it? How will machine learning change our practice? But often, we lack the basic understanding of our past. Whatâs the first service that ever existed in history? How old is really co-creation? In this fun talk, Daniele shares key stories about the history of our field. Starting with 10,000 BC up to 2019. This little journey will show how Service Design stole ideas from psychology, politics and even philosophy. Collaboration is more than a keyword, itâs a key retention point that will also improve the culture throughout your organisation. Our slideshare highlights some important ways to create a culture shift. This slideshare explores the view that for organisations today, collaboration and innovation arenât nice-to-haves, but must-haves. People go to the companies they admire and respect, that use certain technologies - like web conferencing, video conferencing, and unified communications. HR need to incorporate these elements to create a collaborative office culture, rather than a combative one.

Large enterprise companies are more than ever embarking on high-paced digital transformations and reinventions to stay relevant and competitive. In-house design teams have become a key part of those endeavors and as a result designers have tremendous opportunity to work on projects of exciting complexity, scope, and impact. However, the reality of being an in-house designer supporting transformative change can often be a challenging experience. Managing complex stakeholders groups, educating and articulating the value of design, navigating intricate technical restraints; all while canvassing for the end-user. It's a lot to figure out! In this 25-minute talk, Jeff shares what he's learned over the course of a decade navigating and working on complex projects for enterprise companies as both a designer and more recently as design director leading teams. Are you a designer or design manager considering moving in-house, or are you currently working in environments of digital transformation and complex problem spaces? Then this talk will teach you how to take the tools, frameworks and concepts you use to design digital experiences in your day-to-day work and how to put those to work to help you navigate and persuade your way to becoming a more effective agent of change

We hear it every day: Everything is changing. Social media, globalization, climate change are just a few of the powerful and complex forces at work in our every day lives. Not only are people more connected than ever with constant access to a world of opinion mixed with fact, but theyâre also feeling less confident, lacking control over everything from home to work to politics. So, the world is complex and facing major challenges, competition is fierce, and brands mean more. So what?
