3. Serengeti, Africa
For sheer scale and
diversity of wildlife, the
Serengeti is hard to beat.
The lionâs share of the
Serengeti is in North
Tanzania and extends
into south west Kenya.
Endless grass plains play
host to the largest
mammal migration on the
planet, including a
staggering two million
wildebeest.
4. Lions
The plains of the Serengeti are the richest grazing grounds in Africa and are
absolutely teeming with wildlife. Thereâs an incredible concentration of
predators, including huge lion prides and countless cheetah. Credit: larrjw myopera.com
5. Youâre also likely to see
Elephants elephants, zebra, giraffes,
buffalo and maybe even a
leopard or two if youâre
very fortunate.
Sharing the vast plains of
Africa with these majestic
creatures is an incredibly
humbling experience.
6. Uganda & Rwanda
Deep in the forest of central Africa lives the extremely rare mountain gorilla.
Estimated total worldwide population is less than 800, so the best place to spot
the Bwindi is in impenetrable forest in south west Uganda or for the Virunga
mountains of northern Rwanda.
7. Mountain Gorillas
Remote location means
only a privileged few get
to see these gorillas.
Largest of the
primates, gorillas are
unexpectedly graceful
and behave so much like
humans that coming face
to face with them is a
mesmerising experience.

8. China
Found in remote
mountain regions of
China, in the Sichuan,
Shaanxi & Gansu
provinces, this peaceful,
bamboo-munching
member of the bear family
is universally loved.
It is also an endangered
species, with only around
1,600 individuals thought
to be living in the wildâŠ
9. Giant Panda
Instantly recognisable, with distinctive black patches around their eyes, ears
and bodies - seeing Pandas in the wild is a unforgettable.
10. Kaikoura, New Zealand
Set on the wild east coast of New Zealand, Kaikouraâs spectacular backdrop is
the Kaikoura Mountain Ranges. An offshore undersea canyon 2km deep
combines with unusual sea currents to make this an incredible place to see a
profusion of marine life, most famously the immense Sperm Whale.

11. Whale Watching
Keep an eye out for Humpback, Pilot and
Southern Right whales or even a mighty Blue
Whale. Youâll see dolphins and maybe
Orcas, the largest of the dolphin (commonly
known as killer whales).
12. The Galapagos marine
Galapagos Islands reserve is home to an
incredible number of
endemic species, (in
other words not found
anywhere else in the
world).
Charles Darwinâs theory
of evolution by natural
selection was heavily
influenced by his
observations on a visit to
these islands in 1835.
13. Giant Tortoise
The giant tortoise is
the most famous
resident. Due to a
lack of natural
predators, the
tortoises are
incredibly tame,
making for an
unforgettable, up
close wildlife
encounter. Credit: apgov4life.blogspot.com
