Front Cover Questions
Question One Here we see the main attraction to the magazine is the cover star. This is exactly what I wanted and by the looks of it I have achieved it. With it having 14 choices, trailing in front of the Masthead and Cover Lines. This follows the convention that reader see the cover star first, then the masthead then the Coverlines with extra notice. Showing I have implemented this convention into my magazine well.
Question Two Here we see my intended genre has been noticed. With Chart coming in first place, however whether this is because of the magazine or not I do not know. The issue here hasn't got as many ticks as I Hoped there to be, with the answer “pop” coming not far behind it. I can see why they chose pop, as the magazine has many colours and pictures. Pop is usually associated with colourful images. In any case, I have achieved my goal of portraying my magazine genre. Even if it hasn't worked to the extent as I had hoped.
Question Three Here we see a brilliant result, and one I was confident I could achieve. Everyone who had answers chose “yes”. Showing I have portrayed the glam theme perfectly. People knew exactly what theme the issue was through the colours, images and Coverlines. This is exactly what I wanted, showing I have reflected the stereotypes and conventions of the “glam” lifestyle appropriately through a range of images and colours.
Question Four This question wasn't a really deep question. I wanted to know if my layout had been successful. And judging by the results the majority of people answers “yes”. I suppose the theme and layout is not for everyone. However a higher majority of people chose “yes” so if I was to market this magazine the majority of people would buy the Issue increasing my profit.
Question Five The pubic believed the Cover Star made the front cover successful Showing the convention that the cover star is the main attraction on a magazine has been implemented into my magazine. Closely following behind it was the them of the cover. SO altogether the appearance is what interested the public in the magazine and is also why they liked it. Perfect as people go up to a magazine because of the way it looks. If visually it succeeds, then it should get some notice by the public.
Contents page Questions
Question One The whole point of a contents page is to have a navigation page to help the reader find the page they want. Therefore I want people to say that it is clear to navigate. This is exactly what happened. 80 percent of people agreed that the contents page was clear and readable to them. Showing I have succeeded on w well designed contents page.
Question Two Almost everyone who answered believed the content within the contents page was typically of that any other music magazine. If this is the case and these answers are reliable, it shows I have taken many conventions of an every day contents page and applied it to my design. By doing this I have created an effective readable contents page as stated in the previous question result.
Double Page Spread Questions
Question One The graph here will not work K correctly, so the answers available have not shown on the graph. However I can tell you that the main attraction to the double page spread was the colour scheme and theme. This is exactly what I wanted, I want people to glace at the page and be interested in the design. And therefore follow on by reading the article.
Question Two When asked if the article is tempting to read almost all of the public who took the questionnaire chose “Yes”. Perfect as I wanted the article to appeal to the my target audience, with it containing behind the scenes gossip. Hopefully the reason it was tempting was because of the pull out quote used. If this is the case, The conventions I have used have worked. And the purpose of the double page spread has been fulfilled through the use of the conventions I have adopted.
General Questions
Question One My audience was in fact females 16 – 21, so the fact that the public picked up on this means that I have designed a Magazine that appeals to my target audience, as it is apparent who I am selling myself to. If I miss my target audience, I wont sell any magazines, so the fact that I have hit my target audience shows me I could make a huge profit from this magazine. Therefore I have met my brief.
Question Two What Improvement Would You Make To The Design “Maybe add a bit more Coverlines onto The Front Cover” “Nothing. I think the magazine is fine as it is” “turn down the colour a tiny. Becomes a bit overpowering” “I don’t think there is enough content on the Front Cover...lol sorry”” As you an see Allot of the comments are based around the actual content that is advertised within the magazine. Stating there simply isn't enough. His was a concern that I had through the development process however I decided to leave it. Turns out the majority shared this worry of mine. However not all of them did. Others said the colour was overpowering, understandable my design isn't for everyone. And one person said my magazine is perfect. Which I appreciate.
Question Three It seem like my set price of my magazine of £3.99 is perfect for my target audience. most people would pay this price. As my target it audience is 16 upwards, most of the audience would have the money to buy this magazine, it isn't overpriced at £5.
Question Four So this is mixed bag, both answers being almost equal. However coming up on top was Design, the majority of the public would most likely be inclined to buy my magazine for the design. This is exactly what I wanted. However not many less chose the opposite answer. Showing both aspects of my design are tempting. Resulting in an accomplished overall magazine design.
Question Five What are you views on the magazines colour scheme “The colour is the best part of the magazine, its just so vibrant” “You can clearly tell what theme your trying to create” “The colour fits the theme perfectly, I love the blues and pinks together, they really look good together.” “A bit to much colour on the magazine for me, overpowering” On the most part the colour has gotten a brilliant reception, with a repetition of answers previously shown to deal with overpowering colour. I understand why people may feel that, however as most people like the colour, and understand what image I am trying to create. SO overall I believe I have achieved what I was trying to.
Question Six Any final comments you would like to make on the magazine “Overall I think your magazine is really brilliant considering the time you had to put it together.” “I really think that the images really suited the magazine” finally most of the closing comments where positive, I didn't get many as most participants didn't really want to answer this question. However with what I did get all of it was positive, commenting mostly on the design side of things. Showing my design really had an impact on people. Which was my main goal.
