Join us in continuing to dig into the Psalms this summer at The Hill Church in La Mesa! This week Pastor Jimmy taught through Psalm 96, explaining the importance of the Body of Christ knowing that we have a song worth singing!!
2. As Christians, we have a song to sing which
provides both our mission and our message as
the Church.
3. Oh sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all the earth!
2 Sing to the LORD, bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the
peoples!
4. For great is the LORD, and greatly to be
praised;
he is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the peoples are
worthless idols,
but the LORD made the heavens.
6 Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
5. Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the
peoples,
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength!
8 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name;
bring an offering, and come into his
courts!
9 Worship the LORD in the splendor of
holiness;
tremble before him, all the earth!
6. Say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!
Yes, the world is established; it shall never
be moved;
he will judge the peoples with equity.”
Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth
rejoice;
let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
12 let the field exult, and everything in it!
7. Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for
joy
before the LORD, for he comes,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness,
and the peoples in his faithfulness.
Psalm 96
8. I.We Sing a Song of Universal Declaration
(vv. 1-3).
9. • v. 1—sing to the Lord, All the Earth.
• v.3—Declare his glory among the
Nations, his marvelous works among all
the peoples.
• v.7—Ascribe to the Lord, O families of
the peoples
10. • v.9 – Tremble before him all the Earth
• v. 10—Say among the Nations, the Lord
Reigns.
11. God has shone into our hearts to give the
light of the knowledge of the glory of God
in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 4:4)
12. II. We sing a song of Unrivaled Kingship
(vv. 4-6).
13. I am the way, the Truth and The life. No one
comes to the Father accept through me (John
14:6).
And there is salvation in no one else, for there
is no other name under heaven given among
men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
14. III. We Sing a Song of Revered Holiness (vv.
7-9).
15. How immeasurably great then is the debt
which our world has contracted, and under
the burden of which it now groans! During
every day and every hour which has
elapsed since the apostasy of man, this
debt has been increasing; for every day
and every hour all men ought to have
given unto Jehovah the glory which is due
16. to his name. But no man has ever done this
fully. And a vast proportion of our race has
never done it at all. Now the difference
between the tribute which men ought to
have paid to God and that which they
actually have paid constitutes the debt of
which we are speaking. How vast, then
how incalculable is it! (Edward Parson)
17. “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory!”
18. 4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook
at the voice of him who called, and the
house was filled with smoke. 5 And I said:
“Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of
unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a
people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen
the King, the LORD of hosts!” (Isaiah 6:1-5).
19. IV. We Sing a Song of a Righteous Judge (vv.
10-13).
20. The times of ignorance God overlooked,
but now he commands all people
everywhere to repent, because he has
fixed a day on which he will judge the
world in righteousness by a man whom he
has appointed; and of this he has given
assurance to all by raising him from the
dead (Acts 17:31).
21. As Christians, we have a song to sing which
provides us with both our mission and our
message as the Church.
